| nbutler11 (226), Phoenix, Arizona | | March 28, 2012 I wish I were in Arcadia more to visit JPs new hood. I’m a fan of the AJs stores in the valley, and this is certainly one of, if not the, best one. Definitely check it out if you’re in the area and pair your selections with something from the cheese and/or produce section. | | NachlamSie (357), Tennessee | | March 10, 2012 This was the only beer store I visited while in AZ and I will say it had a far superior selection to any bar I went to. Even those with a selection of bottles into the 100s. AJ’s is a large higher end grocery store that strikingly reminds me of Greenlife in Asheville. Prices are more than I’m used to seeing in the east, but everything in Phoenix seemed a little higher. Lots of singles are available. Good stuff abound is on the shelf: Alesmith, Alaskan, Epic. It’s a good place to get basically any bottled AZ beer too. | | BOLTZ7555 (56), Phoenix, Arizona | | January 1, 2012 One of the largest refrigerated beer selections in the valley...and if it is highly rated, Jonpol has it. Can’t beat the service and knowledge he brings. For selfish reasons, wish he never left the Glendale location but heading out there is always worth the drive. Not only will his location always have ample supply of the best brewery’s regular offerings, the rare stuff finds its way to the shelf. Many times, you’ll find it here first and it sticks around longer. Find a way to get here. | | Ibrew2or3 (248), Phoenix, Arizona | | December 3, 2011 [ Updated December 23, 2011 ] This is a very nice AJ’s to be sure. It has the best beer selection I have seen to date and nearly everything is kept in an actively cooled environment (unlike many other beer stores in AZ). They have plenty to choose from here that I haven’t seen elsewhere. Like the other AJ’s I’ve been to their prices are a bit higher than elsewhere. Still I may go out of my way to come back here for both food and beer. | | hellbilly (130), scottsdale über alles, Arizona | | October 24, 2011 same great jp... the place is hit or miss without him around...mostly miss.
| | mrjaxson (20), Wisconsin | | March 14, 2011 If you haven’t guessed, this is a high-end grocery store (think Whole Foods) with a VERY respectable beer-wine-liquor selection. Before walking into the centrally located beer aisle, I spotted several prices ($4.89 for a box of Cap’n Crunch) that got me a little worried about the adequacy of my bankroll. But the beer section was fairly priced with many singles available in the $1.59-$1.99 range. I didn’t catch the name of the section manager, but he was polite and offered helpful suggestions. If you are staying at a Biltmore-neighborhood hotel, this is a great place to stop to stock your room refrigerator. | | Travlr (637), Washington, Washington DC | | October 31, 2010 My first time to AJs, so I don’t have a good basis of comparison. Pretty good selection, with a handful that I couldn’t find at Total Wine. A few bottles were pricey, most were pretty average. Worth a stop. | | dcschiller (42), Scottsdale, Arizona | | October 3, 2010 Super selection of beers. Only been to this location a few times, but it’s got a nice feel to it. Jonpol does a great job of keeping good beers in stock. Worth seeking out. | | footy (12), scottsdale, Arizona | | September 13, 2010 Jonpol has yet again moved up in AJ’s corporate ladder and is making another AJ’s the place to go in the Phoenix Metro Area after doing the same in Glendale and then Via Linda. Matt? has taken over Jonpol’s spot at Via Linda and is keeping up the tradition. But now that JP is in Arcadia we have another place to get those exclusive and hard to get beers. He is also setting up tastings as he did at Glendale and Via Linda( ie. The Firestone tasting). |
