| Ibrew2or3 (248), Phoenix, Arizona | | April 15, 2011 I don’t think I’ve been to any RockBottoms before since there always seem to be more unique and obscure places to seek out. Today the convenient location and my hunger took me here. I seem to arrive on their 12 anniversary party with a big celebration going on and pretty much a full house on a Thursday right at 5pm. It seems this corporate business reaches out to embrace their locals which I find really cool. Today they tapped their Saison and gave out 4 oz samples to everyone there. How cool is that. The staff was really helpful and guests were very friendly too. Overall the place was really loud with booming music. I’m not sure if that was for the party or the norm here. Their Legally Red (barleywine maybe) (at $4) was dynamite. A fair number of the beers I tried aren’t listed in ratebeer. I guess my geeky brothers don’t stop by here too often. I was very glad to stop by guided by hunger alone. I’ll have to do so again. | | daknole (204), Scottsdale, Arizona | | December 24, 2010 Typical RB. The brewer here steps out of the box more than some RB brewers. Kudos. | | Travlr (637), Washington, Washington DC | | November 4, 2010 Decent atmosphere, looks lived in. Beers are OK, food is nothing special. Staff is friendly and efficient. | | hellbilly (130), scottsdale über alles, Arizona | | October 20, 2009 somewhat nicer than the others in town... neat-o upstairs seating and red brick all around reminded me of a fire station... or, at least something with some character/charm. everything is on par with the other spots (food, beer, service) so... not great but nice to have around after golf... | | nbutler11 (226), Phoenix, Arizona | | April 18, 2009 [ Updated December 24, 2010 ] Solid location near the theater and shopping center that runs along I-10. I would never expect a RB to be in this area, especially since it’s never crowded, but who am I to complain? The food, service, and atmosphere all to the company’s standard, but this places distinguishes itself with Rob’s beers -- especially browns on cask. Damn. | culver501 (7), Chandler, Arizona does not count - explanation | | August 5, 2007 Service is bad. Food and beer are subpar compared to Scottsdale location | TRMV (3), does not count - explanation | | February 15, 2007 This is my homebase Rock Bottom. It has easy access from I-10 as I am coming in from Tucson. Very tasty Beers, and I think Great Food. The servers are all great folks, and the place is very nice and clean. The Beers may not wow you but they are well brewed and true to style. | | bitter (90), Henderson, Nevada | | March 22, 2006 not a huge rock bottom fan, i have been to about 3 of them in different cities. average prewpub food and beer. | | Steib (12), Queen Creek, Arizona | | November 13, 2005 Stick to the bar or bar area. Service can be real iffy. I think the beer quality is better at the other valley locations. The desserts are awesome though. The inside is real nice, great decor. | turbo (5), Arizona does not count - explanation | | July 1, 2005 [ Updated June 19, 2008 ] We went to Rock Bottom in Ahwatukee as part of our Great Arizona Brewery Shock and Awe Tour. The first thing we noticed was the red brick walls, clad with numerous oversized Arizona-themed art and photography, and the high ceiling that lead our eyes to the small upper-level seating area. Some other eye catchers are the large beer tanks situated above the bar and the huge chalk board, hanging over the bar, listing all 9 of the house beers complete with name, style and alcohol content. Each beer’s name and information is printed in its own bright shade of chalk written large enough to read from the opposite side of the restaurant. I ordered the sampler tray which included 9 different beers served in generous whiskey-sized glasses. The waiter set the sampler glasses on an accompanying menu which offered even more information about each beer. We also ordered a plate of nachos which were delicious, but not quite as good as the nachos we had at the Streets of New York. |
