| DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | May 6, 2011 The cornerstone of a really neat street in Phoenixville. I was able to find parking on the street although it’s a high traffic area. There’s are definite thematic elements across Iron Hills from the house beers to the unique font everything is written in to the minimalist wood and steel decor to the locally sourced food. As others have noted this location is smaller than a typical location but what’s great about Iron Hill is that each location has their own brewer who’s given a lot of autonomy to make beers so each location has totally different beers. The crust of the pizza I had was a bit overdone but otherwise tasty. I enjoyed the beers I had and I thought it was a pleasant experience. | | robgibbens (15), Gaithersburg, Maryland | | April 15, 2011 I liked the decor and the open view from the bar of the street. The place was clean and neat. The food was really good as was the service. I was allowed to wait for someone at my table and did not feel pressured to leave. The beer selection was great too. I would definitely go back. | | kennydiaz (23), staten island, New York | | April 2, 2009 [ Updated April 10, 2009 ] A VERY NICE SELECTION OF THERE OWN FRESHLY BREWED BEER. A FEW OUT OF THE BOX BEERS WHICH WERE VERY GOOD. THE SERVICE WAS FAIRLY GOOD FOR OUTSIDE OF NY. BEER PRICES WERE FAIRLY HIGH $6 A PINT AND IT COST ME $25 A GROWLER. THE REAL PLEASANT SURPRISE HERE WAS THE FOOD I HAD THEIR CALAMARI FOR AN APPETIZER AND THEIR HAWAIIAN TUNA FOR DINNER BOTH WERE OUT OF THIS WORLD. THIS PLACE WAS DEFINITELY WORTH THE TRIP. | | michael-pollack (100), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania | | February 13, 2009 Standard Iron Hill decor is nice. Service is friendly. Decent selection of house brew, specials, and house bottles. Food is quite good. Get the cheesesteak egg rolls. | | JCastner (11), New York | | January 9, 2009 Good solid food for a brewpub. A bit pricey but certainly reasonable considering the choices. No complaints about the service. | | jmm635 (66), Havertown, Pennsylvania | | October 20, 2008 [ Updated July 24, 2009 ] Not a terrible place... pretty typical brew pubs with some nice tv for watching games. I received pretty poor service for dinner on a Saturday night. I think I had 3 or 4 different people come over to our table to take our order and refill our beers. It was weird. Decent selection of their stuff. They had a nice lobster dinner deal for about $20 which was very filling, but not the best lobster I’ve ever had. | | Funknmilla (12), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania | | June 25, 2007 Tuesday night 8-8:30, not very crowded with self seating. Upon sitting, it took quite a while for a server to attend to us. We were at the point of going to the bar to order the first drink. Three or more servers were busying themselves busing tables rather than acknowledging us. We ordered some apps and beers, both were quite tasty. Although it got a little confusing when we had 5 different servers attending to our table; almost forgot who to pay the check to! Check, well yes it was not dealt with very efficiently, and the tip reflected it.
We sat at the bar after dinner, ordered a beer that was poured from a pitcher?!?!
The bartender explained that it was from a fresh keg change, but how was I to know how long it truly sat there? The beer was replaced, with an unnecessary side of attitude. As I enjoyed it, the bartender became more enjoyable as well, even mixing me a homemade black & tan, which I appreciated. Overall not an awful experience, but many annoyances never the less. I’m just glad I was with good company..:)
| | hopdog (220), Lansdale, Pennsylvania | | March 23, 2007 Looks like an Iron Hill. Dining room is definitely smaller than the others I’ve been to. The Dining room was packed on a Thursday. Food is standard across all Iron Hills (good). Service was great. | | obxdude10 (99), Pottstown, Pennsylvania | | February 21, 2007 [ Updated March 22, 2009 ] Update 3-22-09: Finally got a chance to go back and visit this location again. I had a much better experience than the first time. My wife and I visited for dinner, and it was very good. She had the pulled pork sandwich and I had the Lejon pizza with shrimp and bacon. Both dishes were excellent. Also during this new visit, they had a lot more seasonal beers available on draft. I was able to try four new beers, including the Red Cindy, an excellent IPA-style beer, and the Quad, which was incredibly delicious. The Quad stacks up to the Belgian abbey quads like Westy and Rochefort, in my opinion. The service was a lot better, as well, even though it was just as busy. Our server was very friendly and attentive. She was definitely up on her facts about Iron Hill’s beer. The only two disappointing things from this visit was that I was told they didn’t have any bottles of the Quad to take home. I’ll be taking a little time in the near future to call around to find which locations have some. The other w | | boelker62 (12), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania | | January 23, 2007 [ Updated March 26, 2007 ] Likely the best, and smallest of the Iron Hills I have visited. Smaller size creates a great ambiance in the bar, and the fact that it is smoke-free, and a brand new building, really creates for a great dining experience. The bar is not big enough for this place to be a watering hole. You are highly expected, in my opinion, to get a full meal if you sit at the high-top tables. You cannot go wrong, however, with their menu. It is their mainstay, and they mke no bones about it that this is a restaurant first, that happens to brew it’s own beer. While it may be tricky, parking is as good as it gets in Phoenixville. I should know, I live there. They provide their own lot for parking across the street that the building developer owns. This is a great place for my family to bring others, any time of year, any time of day except dinner. It is so wildly popular, there have been 2 hour waits to get a table. Can’t fault them for wanting to run at capacity. A strong addition to a strong entertaining town. |
