Very dark and intrguing atmosphere. Interestinly shaped bar , with about 15-20 taps, 8-1 decent selections, and a few gems too. Prices are average for the area, food is average-good casual mexican dining. Worth the stop if you around the area.

Conveniently located just on a main road in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh. From the outside, one would never guess that this is a beer-centric restaurant, as there is little indication that it is anything other than a Mexican chain. The ambiance inside is pretty cool, dark most of the time, trendy decor, and usually pretty good music. The food is general Mexican fare, with a nod to some more authentic items. However, it falls short of being truly authentic (don’t ask for moule, they don’t know what it is), or truly outstanding, if flavorful. The tap selection rotates about every two weeks, with a featured craft brewery rotating in and out about every month. Generally, they seem to have the latest beer that everyone wants, and offer some nice discounting on drinks during happy hour. There bottle selection is somewhat small, but full of high-quality beers at somewhat reasonable prices. The prices for drinks on a regular basis can be a touch steep, but not terrible. It is generally kid-friendly. The service staff has alternated between being helpful and friendly and downright cold. Overall, worth visiting.

Well, it says Pgh but its really north of Pgh. North Park area. I visited this place on the ’first day of autum beer N. Pgh. beer tour’ of 2008. Mexican all the way and if you are familiar with mad mex you know it’s sparse mexican. Enjoyable with out playing the music too loud and today they had some cool music on which I liked. Always a good selection of interesting beers. I think every time I’ve been to mad mex I’ve had a beer there I didn’t know about. Friendly helpers at this place, blonde and eye candy. Didn’t have any food but if it’s anything like the other places, it will be good middle american fare. Free chips and salsa but the beer I had was about $8.

One of the nicest Mad Mex’s I’ve been to. Had a cool outdoor bar and seating area (I know Robinson’s does to, but this is more elaborate) and a great staff. Had the usual stuff on tap. I always find at least one thing on tap I haven’t had before so that was nice. The food was good. The location was nice and the noise was minimal. Of all the Mad Mex’s I’ve been to this has been the nicest as far as cosmetics.

This was a long five miles from my hotel, with all those damn poorly timed lights. The decor inside is contemporary meets rustic, pretty cool, but a tad too dimly lit. It is also very loud, as this seems to be a popular place. 20 very decent taps, and 36 bottles, and this is a mexican restaurant! Wow. My bartender was excellent, and drafts are 50% off from 5-7 during the week. So far so good. I got a steak quesadilla, and it was not very good. The steak was tough and chewy, and this had very little cheese (this is a quesadilla). Considering how busy they were, maybe I ordered the wrong thing? Food gets a C minus. Considering the type of restaurant and the happy hour specials, beer selection gets an B plus

Nice little place in North Hills. I was surprised by the selection of beer they had in bottles and on tap. Service was friendly and was able to answer our questions. Food was good, huge portions for the price.

Went here the other night with the girl. Nice little bar area that has a much better selection of brews than you would expect from a mexican restaraunt. Food is insanely spicey and reasonably price. Would reccomend it more for the spicey food lover than the beer enthusiast.

Not the best of the Mad Mexes - still favor the beer selection at Robinson. Food is still good, and beer prices are about the same as the other PIttsburgh locales - a bit pricy depending on origin. They had some Great Lakes here, along with Chimay, Heavyweight, and a few standard locals. My waiter also worked for Vecenie Distributor, so knew a bit about the beers. A good selection if you’re up in the North Hills near Ross Park Mall.
