| nike (36), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | May 23, 2011 Excellent place to sample different beers. Nice selection of IPA’s, including Troegs Scratch 43, and Mouflan Barley Wine, among others. In all, 24 taps they rotate about half of them, so worth stopping in at least once a week. They have a nice menu with good food. I suggest hitting their happy hour specials (daily) for half off all drafts. Service is informative and helpful. | | Acetobacter (46), Pennsylvania | | January 20, 2010 Visited whilst meeting a pretty girl for a drink before she caught a flight out of the city. This Mad Mex location sits in the middle of a giant suburban sprawl mall complex in the city’s west region; obviously near the airport. As it was happy hour on a Friday, the place was quite busy, but not so much so that it was tough to get a drink. The selection consisted of a very respectable draft selection of the seasonal and special offerings from some of America’s best craft brewers (Rogue, Bear Republic, Bell’s, etc). Normally, the prices are far too high at Mad Mex locations, but happy hour brings 1/2 price drinks and free chips and salsa. The food at the other locations is generally a pretty good interpretation of Americanized Mexican, with a nice emphasis of fresh ingredients. Here, I only had said chips and salsa, but they were fine. The service was excellent, easily one of the best display’s I’ve ever witnessed at a bar. The barman was a true publican, selling the drinks; making recommendations; remembering the names of regular patrons, as well as newbies like me; and generally getting drinks out as quickly as humanly possible. Ambiance of the place is dim, fairly trendy, and very lively. Definitely worth visiting. | | hopscotch (187), Vero Beach , Florida | | January 26, 2009 The food is Tex-Mex. The menu is interesting and a good part of it caters to health conscious folk. Small, tube televisions scattered about the place. The theme is Aztec, Southwestern and "left-of-center cool." The tap selection is diverse and has some top tier stuff (i.e. Southern Tier Imperial Choklat, DFH 90 Minute IPA, Stone Ruination, etc.) The service was great and I was provided with 3 oz. free samples of the beers I was unfamiliar with. Really nice place! | | KornDogg (25), Lancaster, Pennsylvania | | October 5, 2008 [ Updated October 9, 2008 ] If you are a newbie when it comes to microbrews, this is the place to go... Happy Hour is great at this Robinson location, Half price brews and a good selection that is always changing gives you a great opportunity to try new things. Happy hour brings in a nice business crowd and a few college kids with great taste. The Food is good but I usually would only nibble on chips with my beer... | | Drew (44), Kent, Ohio | | July 1, 2008 delisious food, great beer list, terrific tequila, what more could you want. They always seem to have at least a couple of local brews on tap too. great! | | mtoast (13), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | March 9, 2008 One of my locals, always nice and dark, appreciated it more before they went non smoking (as of 3/1/08), but I am a damn dirty smoker, so... yeah. Always a nice selection of IPA, food is above average. Service can be spotty on busy nights, but for the most part pretty good. | | MikeF (205), Cleveland, Ohio | | October 6, 2007 I can say this place has the best draft list of any mexican restaurant I have ever been to. Actually, not a bad draft list as far as beer savvy places goes. If you want good mexican but cant be without a great beer this is the place. | | beercollector (18), Astoria, Oregon | | October 3, 2007 As a card carrying member of the Rouge Nation, I was surprised to find the Latona 20th Anniversary this far east. We had very good service and were impressed with the selection. The food was well presented. The delivery was quick and flying in from Beervana, this gave a good first impression. The second beer was for dessert. Atwater Java Porter. Bring on the ice cream. Beer float time. | | gsmitty80 (153), Washington DC | | August 1, 2007 I enjoy drinking and eating at mad mex alot. I was out at robinson waiting to pick my aunt up from the airport. Hit their happy hour special , 1/2 off pints form 5-7. About 15 rotating taps makes for a great 2 hour period. Had such tasty brews as Green Flash IPA, Rogue Father’s little helper, Dogfish Head Peche and wings for under $20! | | cheapdark (128), Quiptown & Central Valley, Pennsylvania | | April 6, 2007 [ Updated February 5, 2012 ] This is a great place to go sample beers. They have beers on tap that nobody else has. I avoided this place because of the traffic and now I regret that I did. I had a big glass of Rogue Imperial Stout for $5. I also got to taste 5 other beers for a minimum charge. Lisa was really helpful in enlightening me about the beer styles and I would not hesitate to return for a future visit. My rating for selection is based on their taps. Very pleasant and the food is said to be great. Nice atmosphere. Food is really southwest special, great happy hour prices, especially the wings.. |
