2 reviews for Vine & Barley
| glennmastrange (20), hobe sound, Florida | | February 21, 2009 [ Updated August 27, 2009 ] A great beer selection (for the location) will keep me coming back often. Bell’s Hopslam on tap! Are you kidding me? Awesome! They have quite a few of Broooklyn’s along with some other hard to find brews on tap and in bottles. And even better, I was told the selection rotates fairly well. Another nice option at this place is that when you want to try the four beer sampler you get to choose the ones you want to taste, unlike the Yardhouse in PBG where they decide what you’re going to be trying. I get the feeling once the word starts to spread south of PSL, this place is going to be hard to get into during busy hours. I met Hopscotch, and another ratebeerian whose handle escapes me, for the first time here. Two cool people. They had their computer up on the bar reviewing RB ratings of what was on the menu. Good stuff. Update: Back again, this time we sat at the bar and spoke with Mark and Kevin. Both very friendly with a lot of knowledge and willing to listen to comments on the subject of beer | | hopscotch (152), Vero Beach, Florida | | January 8, 2009 What a nice little place. Elegant, laid back and as quiet as you want it to be. Vine & Barley is very reminiscent of an upscale coffee house; only instead of fair trade java, this place specializes in hand crafted wines and beers. I’m more into the 24 beer taps than I am the 75+ wines available via the "self serve" Enomatic Wine Serving System, but I also enjoy a nice glass of wine and don’t imagine it will be very long before I explore some of their delicious, affordable red wines. Mark (owner) is very personable and accommodating while Kevin (tap master?) is very laid back, but extremely sociable. Even better, Kevin’s voice is almost identical to Norm MacDonald’s (of SNL fame). Food wise, they do offer cheese & meat platters along with all the salty/crunchy pretzels you can eat. However, it is recommended that you call West End Grill, about four doors down, and order some of their wonderful carry-out to bring back and enjoy with the beer or wine of your liking. |
