Free beer flight, great tour guide and awesome ambiance. I felt the merchandise was a touch too pricey but other than that this was one of my favourite brewery visits in the United States. Better than Hill Farmstead. Service is world-class. Rachel, I believe, was very accommodating.

A must-visit in Portland. I toured this place years ago before the big expansion and it feels a lot more industrial these days. The tasting area however is much improved. The tour is free and you get several free beer samples. Crowded during the summer be sure to book ahead.

One of my absolute favorite breweries. People there are insanely nice. Everyone Iíve ever met that works for Allagash has been incredibly friendly, and keep giving free bottles of beer. Even if itís my first time meeting them. Brewery offers free tastings (even if itís only 4 beers). What more could you ask for?

If youíre in town, be sure to go out to Allagash for the tour. The beers are mostly top notch, and you get to taste four of them at the end of the tour. We showed our interest and knowledge to the tour guide and got a special treatment afterwards, when the tour guide pulled out a special beer from the stock, and we even got to see the coolship. Donít expect to see that if youíre visiting in the snow season though, it is not accessible then. I still have dreams of the really fresh White we got at the end of the tour, and some of the other beers we bought to take along on our trip is really wonderful as well. Good selection of t-shirts and other stuff in the store.

I would highly recommend this brewery if in town. They do free tours that includes 4 beer samples. We had White, Speciale Blondd Ale, Tripel and Curieux. Thaddeus guided us round and after the tour we gat a small VIP tour to see the coolship and taste two other special beers.

Itís a fantastic setup here and the tasting room is done very well. I had arrived early for an 11am tour and the staff asked if we would like our tasters before the tour...yes please! The free taster included White, House Beer, Dubbel and Century Ale. The tour was fun and Iím sure it would be informative for most folks. The tasting room also has plenty of gear and merchandise to purchase. Special bottles were limited to Coolship Resurgam and Midnight Brett and they were planning a bottle release of Mattina Rossa the following day. The staff are all bubbly and everyone clearly enjoy working here and have great attitudes. Props Allagash!

Definitely worth a visit. The tasting room and gift shop have a few nice offerings. They provide a free 4 beer flight including their House beer that can only be found here. Big windows look into the brew room. Off street parking, Quiet location. My only complaint was that I might have liked more limited run beers. Yes, you can buy their Dubbel, Tripel, White, etc but you can buy those anyplace in New England. They had basically two unique beers for sale that were hard to come by elsewhere. But maybe Iím too picky. Overall I liked the tasting room and the friendly staff.

Visited on Monday at opening.
Ambiance: We just stopped there at opening for buying some beers and merchandise so we didnít make the brewery tour. We still ended up spending 1Ĺ hour there drinking our 5 flights at 10 a.m. Itís a large visitor with a few place to sit, not that far from a brewpub.
Service: So much staff on the floor for 10 am on Monday in a visitor center, but I guess they had something to do at the brewery too. Super friendly service.
Selection: 5 beers available for tasting including a few of their limited sours. Bottles available to go as well including the delicious House beer (only available in a wooden crate of 24-bottles though). Three of their limited sours were available when we visited as well as a few more of their "regular" products and a ton of merchandise. Century Ale was delicious!
Value: We got 5 x 4 oz flights for free including Neddles, Century Ale, Midnight Brett, Saison and Interlude. How can you beat that?
Overall: First time I visited this place after a few trips to Portland already and Iím pretty sure it will be a place I will visit each and every time Iím in the area from now on.

Yep, this was definitely what I expected. Lots of people. A line for the Resurgam, which moved really quickly. There were tours available, but Iíve been on too many beers tours to actually give a shit anymore. Maybe Iíll start going on them again, once I visit Europe with my wife, but for now, Iím not interested. Anyways, I did appreciate the free tasters. Essentially, they give you a free beer for just showing up to the place, which is very nice. They also had free coffee available. Bottles were available, but surprisingly, save the Resurgam, I wasnít able to find as much here, as I was at stores in town. Obviously, the beers are good. The selection is representative of the bottles available. All in all, you should go, but thereís not much that you need to hang out for, other than your free beer.

July 15th 2010: (Overall score 74) We got to Allagash in time for the 3 PM tour. The tour started by a tasting of their regular lineup (white dubbel and trippel) and the Victoria. The tour wasnít very long, but it was fun. We got to see the barrel room where they were currently aging a lot of Curieux. The price is right (completely free) and the people are welcoming. Definitely a worthwhile stop for a beer geek in Portland.
Update: Boy has this place changed since I was here a couple years ago. They obviously underwent some major expansion, the visitor welcoming area is almost like a full fleged brewpub now, they serve a free tasting flight of 4 beers, including some of their pricey sours which was really nice. Staff is super friendly and they have a ton of beer and merch available to go. I had this on as a Portland must stop, but this is now truer than ever.
