| zizzybalubba (68), Elizabeth City, North Carolina | | May 17, 2012 Bridgeport is a large brewpub located in the Pearl District in downtown Portland. The bar area is nice and comfortable and there is plentiful seating in the restaurant as well. The service was good. Only Bridgeport selections are offered and some are exclusives. I did not plan to eat but the happy hour specials were very reasonably priced so and tasted good. Prices were on average with other brewpubs/bars in the area. Portland is such a beer-rich city that Bridgeport could be overlooked but it should not be. While I like beers better from some of the other local brewers Bridgeport has some tasty selections. Bridgeport has a nice balance of beers that will appeal to both the beer geek and the beer novice. | | BrewDad (360), Olympia, Washington | | January 15, 2012 One of the first places I ever went to when i first moved to Portland. A great beer scene and great beers. Good food and the brewery tour was awesome. | | TBone (173), Pori, Finland | | July 13, 2011 Big airy brewpub with lots of space. I think they had 10 own beers on tap. Service was prompt and quick. You can buy merchandise from this place too. Certainly one of the places to visit while doing Beervana crawl in Portland. | | Dogbrick (423), Columbus, Ohio | | April 4, 2011 (Visited 02/2010): Walked to Bridgeport on the suggestion of our server at Deschutes. It is located on Marshall and 13th, and there is street parking in all directions.
The interior has an industrial feel and is 2 levels, giving it a very open look. Lots of brick and exposed pipe, and dark colors. The bar is in the rear with a view of some of the small batch brewing equipment. There is also a permanent beer menu situated behind the bar displaying their regular and seasonal beers. There is also a small gift shop area with a cooler of bottled beer to go.
The beer selection consists of around 7 including 1 or 2 seasonals. There is a sampler available for $7.50. The beers are pretty standard offerings such as Amber, IPA, and ESB plus a couple of higher-end beers like a Scotch ale and the Hop Czar IPA. The standard beers are pretty average with the bigger brews being better.
Service was good on a weekday afternoon. The bartender was covering the area where we sat and he was knowledgeable about their available beers.
We did not try any food on this visit.
Overall Bridgeport is not at the top of the list as far as places I would hit on a return visit to Portland but I am glad we stopped in. | BoolySpark (2), does not count - explanation | | October 19, 2010 When we come to Portland this is one of our favorite pub breweries. We enjoy the ambiance of the bar and the friendly bartenders. Happy Hour is a great time to visit. The Queen likes the Haymaker and I am partial to the Hop Czar, an excellent bitter. Then the Porter.
Some changes this year. Bakery is gone but they still offer a limited selection of baked goods. Mussels are off the limited but average Happy Hour menu.
| | adnielsen (277), Fort Collins, Colorado | | October 14, 2010 The atmosphere is pretty bland, but it’s nice to try all of Bridgeport’s beers head-to-head on a sampler tray. I would definitely go here if you’re on a Portland brewery tour. | | DuffMan (185), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta | | May 13, 2010 Classy brewpub, nice looking interior design. Service was stanard, with nothing tocomplain about. Food was actually excellent, for upscale pub fare. There cheese-and-porter soup was delicious in particular. All of their brews are on tap, with several on hand-pulled cask as well. The cask brews were really lovely. | | NachlamSie (358), Tennessee | | April 27, 2010 This is a nice, approachable brewpub. Two floors with open, wooden furnishings make for a typical, though welcoming atmosphere. I unfortunately only had one pint during my visit and zoned out on the couch upstairs. I was way too full from the burger I’d just experienced. I could’ve had a better experience here but I poorly chose the not-so-great Haymaker pale ale. Overall, it’s a good stop downtown. Good enough selection for the beer geek, but I didn’t see anything that was just begging for me to drink it. | | mykie73 (10), Oregon | | February 22, 2010 The selection can not be knocked. It’s their beer after all but it would be great to see a quest tap or bottles. I do like the three cask engines however.
Go there for lunch at work as I live across the street. The food ranges from great to averager. Great deal on the mussels and frits.
| | ckstanley (11), Vancouver, Washington | | November 16, 2009 I am usually fairly generous with my reviews, but BridgePort is usually a disappointment to me. Their beers are *okay* but nothing impressive, and my recent visit to this Ale House was nothing if not disappointing.
While the food was great, my order came out wrong, my beer was warm and we waited nearly a half an hour before we even got to order our food. The environment seemed crowded and the server seemed annoyed that we were there.
