This is a very big brew pub, especially considering the size of other brewpubs nearby. I came here for a late lunch so it was not crowded but the service was attentive and awesome. Beer was obviously great and good surprising good. Definitely will be back

Feels more like a massive restaurant than a brewpub, this place is huge. Still had to wait a couple of minutes for a table though, the place was packed on a Saturday afternoon visit. A decent selection of Deschutes beers on tap, some of their in-house smaller batches as well, but no limited release vintages or anything too special. Would have wanted to taste Abyss again, but it was not available. Food was okay, but a bit pricey. Centrally located, so I guess this is worth a visit if you are in Portland. Just don’t expect to find anything too special here.

Beautiful place that was packed with all different types, from families, seniors, young couples, and college kids. Very high energy level and the service was great. I was disappointed by the absence of the Abyss and Obsidian on the tap list, but I was pleasantly surprised how good fresh Black Butte tasted.

This place is amazing. Beautiful woodwork and phenomenal service. Great limited brews on tap & in bottle. Food was fantastic. One of my favorite places that I’ve been !

Visited early on a Thursday evening, and, wow, was it ever packed with customers! Very busy bar area, with two TVs showing sports. So noisy that people had to shout to each other. Nicely designed, though, with massive wooden beams, ceiling fans, and NW-themed carved post and lintel "gates" into the dining area. 20 taps going: six "classics" / one seasonal / two casks / 10 "brewers’s choices / one "pub reserve". Special bottles, too, including the latest Abyss. This place is great for trying pub exclusive brews, which won’t show up elsewhere and most of which are very good, some of which are great. Good, limited, pub food menu, with local ingredients and several items made with Deschutes beers or beer ingredients -- but food is a bit pricey here. The big problem is the crowds and the noise (hence the low ambiance score). Sort of a mix of families and very loud yuppies, with the yuppies barking and snarking at each other. I wouldn’t even try to imagine what it’s like on weekend nights. Go early and get out before it fills up.

Visited December 11 2013. Abyss on nitro tap was great but other beers quite average. Seems to be quite popular place.

Big showy brewpub for a big brewery in a big city. This place wasn’t bad at all, and would definitely go there again, but something is lost when there are hundreds of people in the room and you’re just trying to geek out on beer. The wife had an Abyss on nitro and looked like she might cry with happiness. Deschutes definitely offers solid beers, but our experience here was-meh.

Stopped in for a late lunch around 3:00 and the place was already crowded. Basically a nice restaurant with a bar. Cool view of the brewing operation but you can only see it when going to the restroom. Deschutes beers are good but the selection on this day was average, I was hoping for something special that you can’t normally get. Timing is everything I suppose. Food was average and pricy. Service was outstanding, attentive and fun on a very crowded afternoon. Overall I enjoyed and will be back.
