| Dixonian (79), Dallas, Texas | | May 2, 2012 Picnic tables in a big open space. Lots of wood giving a rustic cabin vibe. Taps were almost entirely their brews and I had a flight which included one of the better alt’s I’ve had. | | notalush (256), Denver, Colorado | | December 16, 2011 Old school american style beer hall - cavernous interior with a backwoods cabin kind of feel to it - this is amplified by the bluegrass music they pump in - definitely predates the current hipster vibe in the neighborhood - in fact, the rustic interior almost seems to predate Portland itself - food and beers are dirt cheap - about a dozen brews, but all are quite similar in style (ipas, pales, bitters, etc.) - beers are solidly made, but nothing terrible exciting - food is so-so, but the price is right - decent service - an okay spot, but not essential on your beer tour. | | soul11man (54), Portland, Oregon | | September 4, 2011 Large almost German style beer hall. Full of games and happy beer quaffing Porlandians. Dog friendly year round back porch a big plus. Lines for a beer can get long and aimlessly annoying. Like who is next here? they’ve got a little of everything here with a fairly extensive menu. Great beers and a fun atmosphere, I can tell why many call this watering hole a favorite. | | adnielsen (277), Fort Collins, Colorado | | July 20, 2011 I wasn’t a huge fan of their beers when I visited in early 2009 but I found the atmosphere very comfortable and inviting. | | Travlr (637), Washington, Washington DC | | June 19, 2011 Big place, kind of generic looking. Friendly and helpful staff. Mediocre beer. | | dchmela (96), Orlando, Florida | | March 26, 2011 Stopped by on a rainy Sunday. Big barn like looking place, lots of tables and a walk up and order your beer counter. Beers were just ok. Lots of old country music playing and locals relaxing over a pint. Outdoor area with lots of dogs (of course). They had a kitchen with a decent looking menu, but we did not eat. Decent place, nothing great. | | flyer50 (42), Seattle, Washington | | November 1, 2010 I like this place.
Pros- cool Portland atmosphere, dog friendly, cool outdoor seating, large barnlike indoor area.
Cons- mediocre beer and food, many dogs outside, screaming kids.
Stop by for a pint, if you like it you’ll stay, if not, you’ll move on, which is what I usually do. | | brentfeesh (77), Gadsden, Alabama | | April 27, 2010 A friend and I arrived right as they opened on Friday. We were greeted by a not to happy bar tender who was not too friendly. Fortunately I think this was a by-product of a couple of yo-yo’s (that would be us) coming in right as they opened. They warmed up a bit (just a bit) after some time (and coffee I guess) but the service was not slow and they kept my glass full. Bar and dining area are spacious and they have a variety of board games you can play stacked in the corner. We chose to play darts in the back. Sandwich was good and the beers they had on tap were all quite drinkable (from the ones we had anyhow). Nothing really stood out as exceptional though. Not a bad place at all, it’s just not top on my list. | | Phischy (57), California | | April 1, 2010 I like this place. The sampler of beers is the best bang for the buck. Pooch friendly, big massive space. I’ve always been there while sunny so we are always outside. Super Dog is the most amazing PDX beer I’ve ever had. Was really impressed.
One of my all time favorite spots in PDX. | | auerbrau (232), Peace Dale, Rhode Island | | June 3, 2009 Came here to meet up with friends for a pint and some food. I found the ambiance to be very low-key and relaxed. Dog friendly, which is really cool. I did find the servers to be disgruntled and generally disdainful of people who didn’t appear to be local or "Portland" enough. The beers were okay, the food was cheap, simple, and relatively fresh. |
