A cool place, a big old school. Many themed bars throughout. They have a hotel in here too. This would be a cool place to stay. The food, service and beer was all good.

Cool place. Huge hotel. 5 or 6 bar spaces. Decent food, and decent prices. The interior is very artsy with real attention to detail in many places. Very odd, sort of big old drunken schoolhouse feel. The only negative was the lack of diversity in the beer. Iíve been to many smaller McMenamins that had much more beer on tap. Sort of a shame. Otherwise, quite cool.

Stopped in to have a beer with my homie Douglas. This place is huge and crazy cool. Lots of fun rooms and many bars. All sorts of crazy decorations. The beers was okay normal stuff.

The pros: Everything about the place. Thereís a charming, large, and busy (those things donít always go together) restaurant with a gorgeous and lush courtyard. Great when the weatherís nice, or not. The courtyard has a very distinctive (and very large) chimenea covered with cool mosaic work. Thereís a movie theater. The movie theater has fresh popcorn, fresh beer, comfortable couches, first-run movies, and waiter service. What else do you need? You donít need anything else. Shut up. Thereís a bar with tons of whiskeys where you can relax and smoke cigars. Itís called "Detention." OK, you might also need this. Thereís an old gym where they have live music all the time. Thereís a soaking pool with more lush landscaping (seriously, itís everywhere) and cool mosaic work on the bottom. In fact, even the skylights have cool mosaic work. There are cool historic tidbits about the old schoolhouse, the neighborhood, past shows, coming shows, and quite a bit of stuff about John Coltrane, who certainly couldnít ever have played a show in the gym here...could he? Nah. This is a huge sprawling one-story hotel with cool rooms carved out of old classrooms (one classroom = two hotel rooms, each with their own bathroom). There are random original bathrooms here and there. Kind of kid-sized, and they even have showers...why elementary school bathrooms needed showers back then, I dunno. There are other bars I didnít see and canít describe, and probably other features too. This is a great place to come for a cigar, or a meal, or a beer, or a drink, or a movie. It would be a great date getaway for a night or two. We just came in as a family group for lunch and we walked around, and we still had so much fun it took us an hour to leave after we ate. Canít wait to come back with a date and stay the night.

We stayed at the Kennedy School House for a few days and checked out the restaurant and Boiler Room bar while we were there. Not super impressed with the beer, but the ambiance was fun and worth checking out for sure.

Feels like you are back in school. Looking at the pictures and afraid the principal is around the corner. 6 beers on tap. Nice menu. Very cool patio.

Really unique...old school house with a wicked maze of long corridors separating former classrooms. Ate outside on a nice spring day. Food and beverages were a bit below average but the environment bumped it up a notch. Go for the experience, not for lunch.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. Granted, itís not beer heaven, but they have a solid selection of their own brews. Whatís impressive is the concept and the facility itself. Amazing atmosphere. Friendly staff and good pub food.

We stayed here a few nights altogether, on our way into Oregon and back out again the following week. Easily the weirdest place weíve ever stayed. Lots of character and lots of bars. Looks to stroll around and see, like a haunted elementary school with spooky artwork. A decent choice if you have kids, with chalkboards in the rooms, a wading pool and movie theater, but many of the bars are no-kids-allowed... which is pretty common in Oregon, as we learned. I wasnít crazy about the beers but it was cool that you could bring them back to your room in growlers and mason jars. Food was above average and the breakfast in the main restaurant was well above that.

Super funky place that has to be visited, not for a beer geek value, but for the weirdness of it all. A brewpub in an old school, with hallways, pictures, cafeterias and bathrooms all authentic. Donít expect anything more than the normal McMenamins lineup and have fun.
