| notalush (256), Denver, Colorado | | December 16, 2011 Typical Whole Foods vibe - walk in cooler stocked with an impressive of local brews - lean on the imports, but that is not why you are here - fairly nice selection, and close by all the desirable downtown locations - nice place to stock up if you are staying near downtown. | | 3fourths (962), Boulder, Colorado | | November 3, 2011 walk-in cooler is a mix of local, regional and import. a few things not seen elsewhere in town, decent prices and a knowledgeable beer-dude running the place. | | Alphadelic (48), Portland, Oregon | | May 12, 2011 [ Updated January 25, 2012 ] This has totally changed since I’ve first visited. The walk in cooler is now stocked with an array of local and international brews. A good place to stock up on some of the smaller, local brewers. | | Aubrey (70), Bellingham, Washington | | October 18, 2010 As far as I’m concerned, this is the best place to buy bottled craft beer downtown Portland. All the other markets and shops I went into had painfully limited selections. The selection at this Whole Foods is probably equal to some other Whole Foods, but it may be better than most. I could be biased, though, especially since I just moved from Colorado to Washington state, so at least a third or more of the beers were new to me. Many six-packs and lots of 22-oz bombers, which seem to be popular in the PNW for some reason. I was able to find plenty of new beers to try from Hub, Silver Moon, Speakeasy, Oakshire, and many others. The "beer guy" I spoke with was super friendly and helpful. He even brought out a couple fresh hop ales from the back for me that hadn’t even made it to the shelf yet. Then, the cashier was just as friendly, as she strongly suggested I hit the new Cascade Barrel House ... which I already planned to do. Regardless, the vibe was very cool. Prices were better than I expected. Overall, if you’re downtown Portland and don’t want to bother driving to bottle shops farther away, this place is definitely worth your time and money. |
