| Lukaduke (15), Portland, Maine | | April 15, 2012 Standard selections for the most part however they do have better hours than most beer stores in the city so its a positive when you can go grab a few craft beers at 9:30pm... they do touch a few of my favorite brewers; evil twin.stillwater, mikkeller etc but lack the selection to make it an overall go to. That being said Ive never gone there and not found a beer that Im happy with and its a way better selection than your average grocery store ! | | malrubius (18), Valley Stream, New York | | July 26, 2010 Pretty good for a Whole Foods. Good selection of micros and Belgians, which seem to be treated pretty well. Surprisingly excellent prices. I got Ommegang BPA for 6.99 and Tripel for 8.99. Helpful staff. I didn’t need help picking beers, but the guy working there offered to take beers up to the front to check their prices on two separate occasions in the same visit. Ambiance is Whole Foods, good food if you can afford it, which I can’t | | Crater137 (11), | | December 3, 2009 Nice selection. Alot of beer and wine. Sushi too! | | ShaneMacGowan (16), Maine | | November 12, 2009 Occasionally Whole Foods carries something that doesn’t show up at RSVP or Downeast but generally the selection here isn’t as extensive. I confess a preference for shopping the local places first but if you’re in a hurry and want to gather food and beer provisions all in one stop this is probably the logical place in the Portland area. If you have a little more time the Standard Bakery next door to Downeast Beverage in the Old Port has vastly better baked goods than Whole Foods and is only a few minutes and easy navigation away. | | Glouglouburp (259), Montreal, Quebec | | November 1, 2009 http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/maine/portland/whole-foods-market---portland-maine/10652.htm
A little bit outside the busy part of Portland. Huge grocery store with large parking. As usual with Whole Foods stores this is a superior grocery store. As usual with Whole Foods stores it has an interesting beer selection. Gotta love Whole Foods. Large selection and somehow it seems to have a different source than other Portland beer stores (different supplier/importer?). They also had some non-Maine brews that I didn’t elsewhere, for instance I bought Barrel Aged Rasputin there that I didn’t see anywhere else in the state. The Maine micro selection is incomplete (way inferior to RSVP Discount) but the selection of non-Maine American micros is quite interesting for a Maine store. Plus it is a superb grocery store. Worth a visit even if you are hitting the other major stores in town. | | WeeHeavySD (111), San Diego (Hillcrest), California | | August 10, 2008 I stumbled upon this massive and cool Whole Foods in Portland. We went in for lunch but they had a number of cool brews, particularly Saint Ambroise Oatmeal Stout amongst others. Its not a must stop but its a worth while stop. |
