WohnZimmer is quite a find, sitting on the attractive rectangular park of Helmholtzplatz in Prenzlauer Berg. It’s pretty laid-back and Bohemian, with mis-matched furniture, holes in the floor and blindingly gold painted walls. Order everything at the counter – and they only do two beers – Berliner Pils and Franziskaner (Crystal, Dunkel or regular). You get a glass with the wheat beer, but have to swig the pils from the bottle. Cocktails looked good. There’s a separate smoking room, which means the bar is still busy but feels smoke free. Don’t go here for the beer, pretend you’re somewhere else, sit on a wobbly chair and look around. If you get here early enough, you can bag the chaise longe by the door.
