| JCB (120), Durham, North Carolina | | September 17, 2011 A frequent stop for lunch, this WF has one of the better beer selections of the chain locally. A smattering of local growlers has appeared of late, but other than that there are a few sizable shelves of well selected Belgians, Germans, English, and US craft brews (lots of California stuff in particular) along with Bells, Founders, and tons of good locals. They’re usually good for picking up the not-too-rare seasonal stuff (like Ballast Point Sea Monster, for example) and the staff is helpful. | | planbee (35), North Carolina | | July 4, 2011 [ Updated September 18, 2011 ] AMBIENCE - It’s a Whole Foods. The beer cooler is in a tight space dominated by cheese and wine. The other beer selection is also a tight fit for browsing. SERVICE - Didn’t ask for help, but I was there for a while and employees only hurriedly brushed past me. One even slammed into me and never looked back, nice. SELECTION - Small but good mix. Seems like things move pretty quickly too, there were some unfortunate empty shelf spaces during my visit. I left pretty happy though. Sam’s or Carrboro is still better, but hey, for a Whole Foods, it is outstanding. FOOD - If you need it, the deli is great. VALUE - Prices seem right in line with the quality of items and location. OVERALL - If I lived in the neighborhood, I’d be overjoyed to have this store in the area. But it wouldn’t keep me away from the true bottle shops by any means. | | Nate (246), Indiana, Pennsylvania | | June 25, 2009 We used to shop here all the time when it was Wellspring. The interior hadn’t changed much. The beer selection was pretty good and I picked up some 750s for cheap compared to PA prices. In fact, they had Victory Wild Devil in the corked bottle for a dollar less than what I can buy it for in my hometown. Thanks PA taxes! | | LawBadger (10), Raleigh, North Carolina | | February 6, 2009 Okay beer selection but generally overpriced. A nice variety of microbrews including NC ones. Would like to see more beers sold individually. Not my first choice to shop for beer in Raleigh, but convenient location. | whatalesya (8), , North Carolina does not count - explanation | | January 19, 2009 [ Updated January 21, 2009 ] Decent selection of craft beers overall, heavy on Duck Rabbit. Good that they support the NC brewery. Some singles, bombers, 750ml bottles. A lot of their beers are in a cooler. Wish there were more singles, but still a nice place to stop when I’m passing through Raleigh. Prices are reasonable. | | doboy (19), Morehead City, North Carolina | | September 22, 2008 First time in, won’t be the last. Very good selection at fair prices, some even refrigerated. Some singles, but not as many as I would have liked to have seen. | | Illini08 (39), Raleigh, North Carolina | | May 18, 2008 Decent selection of singles - both imports (mainly Belgian and English) as well as some local and CO bombers. Decent selection of NC brewed beers in sixers and also a good selection of Colorado beers (Great Divide, Oskar Blues, etc...) and Bells stuff. Nothing spectacularly rare, but a nice selection of quality beers. | | Drake (295), Charlottesville, Virginia | | April 27, 2008 [ Updated December 5, 2009 ] Not many rarities, but a good selection of sixers and singles. Beer is scattered all over the store, which makes it kind of hard to see everything, but there is a beer section of decent size as well. Nothing ultra-rare, but a good, wide ranging selection. Good selection of locals. In a couple of visits I’ve never run into any employees in the beer section but the customer service overall is good. Parking may be a bit tight. Prices are in line with other WFM locations. | | jehoey (21), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania | | October 14, 2007 Very nice selection for a grocery store. Lots to choose from including vintage J.W. Lees Harvest Ale when I went, 98 and 99 vintages. Some local beers, and plenty of other micros... worth a stop
