82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Bierkrug (257) Idar-Oberstein (In Iraq), Germany | March 31, 2013 Nice old building completly renovated. It still maintains its old charm. Service is good even when full. Food is outstanding and not just Bavarian either. They have their own buther in house and their own fram so the food is really fresh. Recommended | 66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 13/20 Theydon_Bois (372) The ’Sham, England | December 4, 2012 Spent an hour and a half here from 3.30 pm to 5 pm on the last Friday of November ’11.
7 or 8 minute walk from the Hbf, fairly easy to navigate.
Building dates back approx 100 years, two floors, looked to be more of an eating set up on the top floor (no one up there - but tables being readied), but people also eating on the ground floor.
Perhaps half a dozen other tables, but we didn’t call at a prime time.
Brewing coppers on view.
We sat in a wooden backed semi-booth with stools surrounding the small circular table.
We quickly worked the through the full range during our recess in Regensburg which includes Weissbier Hell, Weissbier Dunkel, Hell and Dunkel.
All tidy enough, but not world beaters !
Not a ’Must return’ in my book as a few other venues still to pick off for me in Regensburg but if all other venues were closed, I’d happily go back !
| 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 tderoeck (126) Gent, Belgium | August 24, 2012 Let’s start with the beers. Yes, they are mediocre, but hey, at least there’s only 4 of them and they are always available. There’s even more! They do sample flights! Hurray for sample flights, us beer geeks love it! :-) The Dunkel was my favourite, so I ordered a bit one of that to go with my food. Too bad the waitress totally forgot about it until she came to clear away our plates. By then I didn’t need it anymore, thank you. She did compensate by putting out copper coins agains the wasps. We learned a thing or two on this trip! The food was very decent. My wife had salad with beef strips (cut up steak), I had the sausage platter, cause apparently they make their own sausages. It was big, greasy and delicious. When you’re in Regensburg, I think this is the one place you want to dine! Didn’t get to see the inside though, it was mid summer and we enjoyed the terrace. | 58 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 11/20 ogivlado (270) Zagreb, Croatia | November 1, 2011 Nice brewpub in old town, decorated in rustical style. Not much people around 10.30 p.m. 4 house beers but nothing more than average. Worth a visit for half an hour and move on. | 44 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 8/20 pivnizub (425) Bochum, Porúří, Germany | July 29, 2010 Modern german brewpub with very modest beers. Not a must! | 60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 13/20 fugitive (142) Athens, Greece | June 24, 2010 Nice brewpub in a quite street in Regensburg. Open in 2007 so the place have a modern look. Quite good food but the beers is average. | 40 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 4/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 8/20 Beershine (593) The Sunshine State, Florida | June 22, 2009 New brewpub/cafe on a nice small street in the old town, very close to the cathedral. Modern feel and good streetside seating. Was not happy with the beers, unfortunately. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 armando629 (74) Budapest, Hungary | November 17, 2008 It is a nice brewpub in the middel-age district of Regensburg. They have a nice brewhouse made from copper, the stuff was very friendly, the beer what i’ve tasted over there(dunkelweizen) was fine. i had bought a two-liter bottle of hefeweizen, but i haven’t tasted it yet. Recommended place with a nice german ambience. |
