| gyllenbock (90), Stockholm, Sweden | | March 27, 2011 Visited the store in Kringlan, Reykjavik in March 2011. The staff was friendly, the man at the cashier took the time to tell me about the Icelandic beer scene.
The store itself was clean and reminded of the Swedish monopoly Systembolaget or the Finnish equivalent.
The supply was good, but not in the class with the Swedish monopoly. Still a lot of beers from Iceland and Faroe Islands that I had never seen before.
Prices were lower than expected, a bottle of Ölvisholt Lava did cost 589 ISK, thats about 5 USD.
I had a rental car, and the store was easy to find from the central Reykjavik. Free parking. | | Derek881 (34), Frederick, Maryland | | September 21, 2010 I have visited the Vin Búð in Kringlan several times, since I live nearby. It has the best selection of all those around the area. The ambiance is pleasant and sophisticated; everything is clearly labeled and spread out. I have not had much need for service, but the register staff has been friendly enough. For Iceland it has a pretty good selection, with all the beers of the North-Atlantic area, and a reasonable amount from international locations. I’m not sure how to rate the value, since all the Vin Búð are the same, and the government has a monopoly on alcohol. Suffice to say that liquor is absurdly expensive, and wine and beer are not cheap, but are reasonable enough to buy. | | KnutAlbert (212), Oslo, Norway | | May 18, 2010 The Kringlan shop is a must, use bus or taxi. All the Icelandic beers available, even six from the Faroe Islands as well as imports from around the globe. With the Krone gone down the drain, it is fairly cheap.
Bright and airy shop, similar to Systembolaget in Sweden. | | faroeviking (127), , Haiti | | February 7, 2007 Interesting beer stor chain run by the government. And yes indeed Vin Búð in Kringlan is the very best in Reykjavík. Good international selection. Have the big money ready though as it really costs. | | haukur (12), Reykjavik, Iceland | | September 25, 2005 well, I see that austinpowers has been in Iceland, First of all, let me state that the best Vin Búð is in Kringlan, the main shopping centre in Reykjavik. That´s the biggest Vín Búð and they have the best beer selection. Leffe, Hoegaarden, Duvel from Belgium, Gaffel, Bitburger and other from germany, a very broad international selection but mainly lagers. The service is often terrible, and the price is like anything else in iceland, horrible. I just put this rate in to suggest Kringlan instead of Austurstræti, since Austurstræti is one of the smallest Vín Búð |
