Busy place sometimes and bar tenders fight to keep up when its really busy. I’ve waited 15 to 20 mins for a beer. Beer selection is great and bar tenders are very knowledgeable....and that slows them down sometimes explaining beers to people. Food is okay. Great selection of beers, but ask what is currently on because list is not always entirely up to date. Saturday or Sunday afternoon is a good time to go.

Killer selection, both bottles and taps. Yuppie bar after work. Lots of beer geeks on the weekends. Food is only so so, service needs improvement. Prices are pretty high, but oh, that selection....

Fun place... great selection with bartenders who know their beer... little pricey however but it’s worth it to try a couple rare ones... fun downstairs with a cool patio... can’t wait to go back!

Haven’t been at dinner, but a great lunch and a pint place. The beer selection is great, food is pretty darn good, and a lot of the staff seems to be into beer and have a fair amount of knowledge. I don’t spend much time in Richmond, but this os one of the places I like to go when I am there.

Stopped in here for lunch recently. Impressive selection of taps and bottles. Not much in the way of rarities on my visit but most of the very good beers available in Virginia were there. It was very busy from what I could tell but the service was very good in my opinion. Definately worth checking out if you are in the area.

finally had the chance to get up here last weekend and i was reasonably impressed. tap selecting was great quality wiith a few rare beers. i appreciated the 25 cent tasting glasses. unfortunately, they seem to be out of beers too frequently and the service was a bit slow. food was decent, i recomment the classic german dishes. proper glassware for the brews was a plus. i’ll certainly come back, but it’s probably better to go for the special events when the really rare stuff is on tap. overall, a quality beer drinking establishment.

Stopped here on a Saturday afternoon to have lunch in surprisingly quiet downtown Richmond. Service was pretty good, selection was certainly above average (they were out of the first beer that I ordered, so I "settled" for an ’06 Old Horizontal), and prices varied from ridiculously high (imo) to pretty reasonable, depending upon the beer. Food was pretty solid, but didn’t blow me away. Overall a good place that I would visit a lot if it was local to me.

Huge selections of terrific beers, and a great meal as well. More of a restaurant atmosphere. Give yourself plenty of time here - the beer menu takes a while to read through and get your head around (which is what makes it fun).

Big letdown after being at Brick Store the previous night. Good selection, but as several people here have noted, they are often out of beers. They were out of my wife’s first two choices, which was a pretty bad start. Then, I wanted a beer from the downstairs bar. My server would not go downstairs and get it for me, so I had to get up from my family and fetch it myself. Decent selection of draft beer. I had a Weihenstephan Hefe, Smuttynose Barleywine, Arrogant Bastard, and a local Imperial Stout. The wife had a Stone Ruination and then a Victory Hop Devil on cask, which really wasn’t as good as it is on CO2. Food was good enough. My burger was ok. Ambiance is a little sterile and noisy.

Busy place. Had to eat outside in the rain, and while I like that, it’s not everybody’s thing. Limited menu and beerlist in the outdoor seating area, but the burger was good. Have to go upstairs to the bar to get anything from the full beerlist. It’s worth it though, as the full beer list is amazing. Service is OK, thoughy one of our party wasn’t served until the rest of us were finished. Not cool.
