No Longer In Business

Cellar restaurant with a decent beer selection. Only one other table occupied when we visited during RBESG 2017. Food was tasty and filling. Server was coy about who was brewing their house beer for them, I’m not sure why this information would be classified. OK stop.

First time visitor to Latvia, Riga visit due to RBESG. My visit on Wednesday July 19, 2017.

Stopped by for dinner and a couple of beers. Down some steps into a sort of low ceiling cellar. Quite decent service. Pretty nice food, had some sausages with sweet sour kraut (I like it less sweet, but still decent). Perhaps more of a restaurant than a bar. Nice place to visit for sure, especially if around and thinking of eating. One part of our group had the one meter sausage, perhaps too much food even for two people, but intriguing none the less. I could go back if in Riga again.

Cellar bar, their have couple of their own beers on tap. The dark one was ok. Maybe ok place to eat. Not a pub.

Located in a cellar, dark, with big wooden tables. Nearly completely empty. Offers some local beers on tap, but their own one tasted rather poor. Prices are far too high. Not very bad, but I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Almost completely deserted cellar, but service was still far from decent. Food was okay and so was their dark house beer, but quite overpriced for Riga. Okay, but nothing more, might be nicer to sit out on the patio in front of the building, but I doubt I will pay this place another visit. (Visited: 2014-07-10)

Dead last of the 5 beer places I visited in Riga. Cheezy faux-cellar atmosphere near the castle with music that was too loud for lunchtime. Bad service, very slow despite being one of only two couples there for a late lunch. The server also waited to tell us until after we had ordered and been served beers that the credit card reader was broken, so I had to run out and search for an ATM. Fortunately, because the service was so slow I got back before our lunch was served! As for beer, they have two house brews which are completely generic, along with some overpriced Latvian beers. Skip it.

Another typical cellar bar-restaurant in old town. It looks smaller than I expected, but its not a problem, makes it more romantic. About 6 taps of local beers.

Intensely touristy place in a cellar. A couple of locals are chatting with the barman, otherwise empty. Freezing cold. Their two own beers are decent, but one is infected. Service is distant, but friendly enough once connection is made. Having rated their two house beers I am never going to set foot here again.

Nice atmosphere. Wifi was down. Their dark beer was sour. Food was decent and the service was good.. could do with more beer choice
