Normal supermarket like in all bigger Baltic cities. Emphases on domestic brands, some foreign. Good for tickers but don’t expect to find real jewels.

Large supermarket just outside the city center. A large wall of beer although is mostly just lots and lots of the same stuff. There is both a warm sectiin as well as a cooler with most of the beer available chilled. Pretty good one stop shop though.

It’s a supermarket, the beer is incidental. However, unlike in many European countries the Latvian small guys seem to get equal billing with the national brewers, so Tervates, Piebalgas, Bauskas, Valmiermuižas and others all get a billing. Know what you are seeking to buy though.

A good selection of Latvian bottled beers with some Russian and Czech beers thrown in for good measure. Reasonable prices too.

All Rimis are fairly good. We went to several, and there were ticks in all of them. Second only to Stockmann. Strong on Latvian, but a few foreign ones too. Beware the draconic booze laws - no booze after 10pm. Because, of course, people who want to get pissed and cause trouble will never think of stocking up earlier in the day, of going to pubs, or even of causing trouble before 10pm.

Very good selection of domestic beers plus some German, Czech, Russian. Kvass, as well. The best quality/price ratio I have ever encountered! Good selection of food and snacks, too.

Right in Old Town this super market has a very nice selection of mainly Latvian beers but also some Russian, German and Estonian. Good prices. Very close to the bus and railway station.
