Far from impressive selection of beers, but quit okay for a supermarket, I guess. Mostly the usual industrials plus some slightly more interesting Latvian and the usual imports. Note: Beer is two separate places in the store - both in the beer/drinks corner and in the wine/spirits section (those two are on each side of the line of cash registers
Grocery store inside a department store. A dozen latvian bottles plus some random mainstream european beers. Cider selection was better. The lady at checkout put a protective sleeve on my 750 of cider, so I guess that counts as decent service. Thoroughly unimpressed.
Department store, most likely the first thing you see when exiting the bus from the airport. Quite nice for shopping a bit, but don’t expect too much in terms of beer. Good for cheap and/or Latvian beers, with even a decent amount of foreign beers (if compared to the local competition). Haven’t encountered anything especially brilliant though. Good place though if you are a beer ticker or from a country where beer is much more expensive.
A department store between the bus station and railroad station/ORIGO Shopping Mall. It has a fantastic deli counter and also a good selection of Latvian beers. International beers mostly from Belgium, Germany and Russia. (Visited April 30th 2011)
An excellent range of Latvian bottled beers and some interesting foreign beers too. Reasonably priced beers for a department store and there were not any long queues when I went there which was another bonus for me.
