| fermaspac (10), , Brazil | | May 7, 2012 Nice place, great selection but overpriced. | | Scopey (150), Croydon, England | | January 16, 2012 The best beer-orientated bar I have visited so far in Rio. It’s located 5 minutes walk from Ipanema beach. Small Belgian beer-cafe style interior with many beers displayed on shelves and in the fridges. Beer selection is brilliant for Brazil. There were 7 beers on tap when I visited including 2 from Brazilian microbreweries. The bottle selection is extensive. The Brazilian selection was in excess of 60 bottles and included Baden Baden, Colorado, Eisenbahn, Falke and Wals. There is also a solid Belgium, Germany, UK and USA selection, but I concentrated on the more local options. Beers were all served in the appropriate glass, but were perhaps too cold. Food and snacks were tasty. Downsides were service is slow even though it’s a small place and some prices are pretty crazy (£250 of Brewdog STB anyone?). Despite that this is the must-visit location of Rio. | | Sevenlee (44), Central Coast, NSW, Australia | | January 22, 2011 [ Updated March 3, 2011 ] Little place hidden in Ipanema. Has a huge range of beer from Brazil and all over the world although prices can be expensive. The staff are mostly efficient which is refreshing for Brazil and they know how to pour the beer and have the right glasses for the job! Although they still insist on keeping a lot of the beer at the ridiculous Brazilian standard of -2.5°C. All round, great place for beer lovers living in or visiting Rio. |
