I think if this place were anywhere else, I would not rate it so highly, but the fact is that this is a beacon in a sea of Wyoming dread. The fact this has survived all these years (I came for the first time in 2006) is somewhat of a miracle. Not because they’re bad and shouldn’t be open, but because Rock Springs is the sort of town where you look for a brewpub and find that there was one, once upon a time, that closed after just a couple of years. Towns like this can rarely sustain brewpubs of any quality, let alone something that’s actually good. And I’ve always thought they were good. I remember walking all those years ago thinking "This is going to be bad" and just being pleasantly surprised with the place. The beer is actually pretty good. It doesn’t necessarily hold up to, say, the beer you get in northern Colorado, but you’re in freakin’ Wyoming. And not just Wyoming, but middle-of-no-where, wind-always-blowing, I-would-have-shot-the-buffalo-too-because-there’s-nothing-to-do Wyoming. I’m sure there are a number of people who feel they owe their life to this place after the drive from Cheyenne. For the beer, I remember the porter well and that I really enjoyed it. The place is a nice balance between a restaurant and a bar, with the bar not too small and the tables not too close in to make you feel weird at the bar. Bonus points for being in Downtown Rock Springs and serving what seems to be decent food in an area that has anything but. My opinion of Rock Springs is very much boosted by this place, and I tell people traveling through here that they should absolutely stop. It’s not must-stop beer, but you’ll need a beer by that point. Wyoming does this to people...

Headed to Salt Lake on the road from Oklahoma and found this little place. Stopped in between 2-3 on a Monday afternoon and we were possibly the only table but some patrons were at the bar. Nice clean stainless brew kettles on display, pretty quaint. Our server was very nice and focused on us. I had the chicken and mushroom linguine in chicken broth and it totally hit the spot. My wife had some French onion soup and she thought it was ok, but considering it’s in Rock Springs, I was not disappointed. Root beer is available and delicious. I took a growler of the Wee Bastard to my friends in Salt Lake (homebrewers with fine taste) and it was their favorite, even considering the many I’ve brought from some of my favorite Colorado brewers over the years. Nice staff.

stopped by on 7/21/10. quaint old town location and laid back vibe. too laid back it seems since the service was atrocious. interesting decor and exposed... well, everything. six beers on tap were pretty good all around. decent enough food.

I live here in Rock Springs and alittle partial to the brew pub and enjoy coming here. I always enjoy the atmosphere. I usually sit at the bar, always receive great service. My favorite beer is "A Beer Named Bob". Great taste!! The food is very good, never had a bad meal. My only criticism is they do need to have more brews available instead of five. Overall the "Bitter Creek Brewing Company" is my favorite spot to go in this city.

Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. The food is above average and the beer is close behind.

I’ve stopped here several times. Nice little brewpub, service is OK but not great. The beer is good, food is average. A nice place to stop, get out and stretch, have a beer and some food while traveling I-80.

What a nice surprise in the middle of Wyoming. Went in expecting cowboys Rednecks, a crusty old "Bud" and threatening sound of "Dueling Banjoes" iin the background. Not in the least!. Well lit, but mellow, nice woodwork and a very comfortable atmosphere. Great beer selection and a friendly staff allthough they seemed a little shorthanded for all the tables and as busy as it was. Still great service though. Go for the Wee Bastard scotish Ale. The appetizer sampler was top notch and the cocnut shrimp a welcomed surprise. Not the easiest to find, we happened upon it by chance while looking for the coffee/bike shop combo next door. Definitely the coolest street in Rock Springs.

The service is instantly friendly and with a smile. Beer is fairly ambitious - a red, a pale, a sweet stout, a porter, a scotch and menu space for fruit, experimental and Shandy options. Seems like they know what they’re doing. Setup is nice - cozy, but not enclosed (I prefer enclosed drinking, hence the 4/5 on ambiance). I intend to go back within the month. So far, the highlight of Rock Springs.

Stopped here last night (Friday). Brightly lit standard brewpub, and with it being a Friday, the place had maybe 15-20 people there. We sat down at a table and were all but ignored for 5 minutes until I went to the bar. A waitress asked if we were there for food, and I said nope, just some beer. Her reply was OK good, because the kitchen is closed, and proceeded to walk away. A few minutes later a local yelled at the bartender to give us a beer, which she did. Bob’s is clearly their best beer, though they were out of ~4 of their regular beers (Deja vu with Old Capitol Brew Works, anyone?) That said, nothing stand out here, but I got my first Wyoming rating! As iABUSEDGOAT/i stated, it was kind of a pain in the ass to get toluckily we had GPS.

Was driving across the country and saw a sign for this place on I80. Not super easy to find, but not hard either... about 5-10 minutes off the exit. Ambiance is typical brewpub, they even let me in 10 minutes before opening. Selection cookie cutter brewpub stuff. Mostly decent, nothing great or interesting. Worth the stop because it’s a brewpub in a region that’s dominated by BMC. Food was a burger, nothing special or exciting. Overall worth the stop only because it was a brewpub in Wyoming haha.
