Seemed like a nice little cozy bar when me and the lady went in late on a Thursday night. Our bartender was great. She knew everything about every beer they had. Selection is OK. Even though the beers are not that good, they have something for everyone. From a stout or IPA to a light or wheat beer. Pretty good value for what you get. About 4 bucks for a 25oz "micro"? I challenge you to find a deal that good somewhere else. Plus, if I remember right, the sampler was close to $3, which is the best deal in the place. Overall, not bad. I’ll have to try the food next time for sure. I’d say this is a good place if you want to catch a decent buzz for cheap.

I visited here once, only sat at the bar for a few beers around lunchtime. If you’ve been to one Granite City, you’ve essentially been to them all. This one felt a little cramped around the bar area. Beers are mediocre at best. If you’re looking for good craft beer made in Rockford, go to Carlyle.

Have visited this location a half dozen times for dinner and/or drinks. The ambiance of the place lends itself to being for the young and trendy crowd, even if it is located right next to the mall. The food here tends to fluctuate with the time of day that you visit. We have had some decent food but then other times the food has arrived cool and one time a desert with brownie in it was almost hard as a brick. Food in general is okay but the prices are a bit high for the quality. The menu does contain a lot to choose from and the beer menu has 5 staples plus a few seasonals and they have a concoction list in which they mix 2 of their beers and call it something else (ie -black and tan). Beers are honestly just okay as they really have a macro undertone to them. Service every time I have visited this location has been sub par and always end up waiting for beer or a desert for a decent amount of time. The restaurant is pretty busy at prime times and even with their ample seating, it can sometimes be rough to get in without a wait. Overall, a decent option to go out to eat but as a brewery I would rate it pretty low but will still visit occasionally. The beers here have nothing compared to the other brewpub in Rockford but this does have food for a more round about night out.

Decent food and nice but not spectacular beers. Good beer knowledge and prices are reasonable. Very good service from a friendly staff.

The specialty beer at the Granite City is called the Two Pull – a beer made from combining a pale lager and a mild heller bock. That should tell you about the beer, it’s nothing to write home about. The service, on the other hand, was excellent. My waitress, Reanna, seemed very concerned that I wasn’t a big fan of the beers. She was charismatic, outgoing and cute. It’s been a long time since I went to a restaurant and I was this impressed with the level of service. The front desk people were friendly and helpful, as was everyone else who came to my table. The food was pretty good too, and the sampler, while not very good, was a bargain at 3.75 for six samples. The service and food alone would bring me back, I will just order the One Pull though – ice water.

Okay, so I’m a bit biased in my rating here. I stopped in on my lonesome and sat at the bar. It’s a clean place, reminds me of the Gordon Biersch chain restaurants. The food’s pretty decent, even something for a decrepit old gent like myself to eat. The beers, although not spectacular, are solid. But the service was my favorite part - - knowledgeable about their brews, quick and attentive. And I spent a good deal of my time talking with the attractive young, buxom blonde, good looking server about Carlos Catañeda, Native American traditional religious practices, beer, organized religion and personal responsibility, peyote and magic mushrooms, Franz Kafka, et cetera. Lots of fun. I’m sure the experience won’t be repeated (my luck is that of K’s), but I’d be willing to stop back in the future.
