14 reviews for Brasserie 4:20
| henrikb (14), Aarhus, Denmark | | November 22, 2009 Excellent bar and for sure the best Rome has to offer, and honestly it is among the worlds best. At my visit 10 different draft beer from Pizza Port, I guess that has only very rarely been seen outside of Pizza Port. And that was just the 10 first pumps the other 16 has great beer too. Excellent bottle selection that is near perfect and I guess will become, I heard that the bar was slowly working on a rare bottle list (Aged Geuze etc??) The food was fantastic too, only fish dishes and all cooked with beer (If I remember right). Very nice people behind the bar that could answer all the questions I had even though I dont speak a word of Italian. Great place that I will surely revisit. | Mikkeller (1), Copenhagen V, Denmark does not count - explanation | | November 17, 2009 [ Updated November 20, 2009 ] Normally I don’t rate beers or places and I might not be too objective, but Brasserie 4:20 is without a doubt one of the few real amazing beer spots in the world. The beer selection is out of this world (...I know I know...), the sea-food is the best in Rome and Alex and the staff are the friendliest people on this planet. This place serves Whiskys, Beers and water only. No wines, no sodas, no liquors, no cocktails.....to me that shows true dedication beyond anything we would ever see in Denmark. I have spend three full days here on my last trip to Rome and I am for sure coming back soon. Thanks a lot, Alex!! | | dropsofjupiter (15), , Italy | | November 17, 2009 [ Updated November 20, 2009 ] Easy to reach, creative name and sign, very nicely decorated, even if it looks more like a discoclub than a brewpub.
Good selection of whiskies and beers, would have been better if someone could explain the customers what they’re drinking. When they are asked to do it, they sound a bit pretentious, like they know-it-all, when they actually don’t. If only they could hire people who know what they’re talking about...the place could be a must for beer lovers!
The food is a plus, also because you can eat ’til late.
The terrace is a very nice place to drink when the weather is fine.
Great potential. It’s a shame they don’t fully take advantage of it. | | Gurfunkl (16), Ontario, California | | October 18, 2009 [ Updated November 21, 2009 ] Very nice... nicely decorated. Awesome beer selection on draft and bottle, Incredibly articulate single malt list and great product knowledge. | | BombsGuide (18), , Italy | | October 17, 2009 Visited during a special beer fest, the place is big, beer selection is very good, food also is not bad | | hallinghansen (15), Odense SV, Denmark | | October 14, 2009 OMG what a place. Finally I arrived, but it was closed it was arround 3.00 pm. So I went to a café and had coffee. I returned at 4.30 pm. stil closed, so I rang the door bell, and they opened. He said that they were not opening until 6 pm, but I told him that I only wanted to buy a beer. I got in, and it was really coasy, and what a selection.. I wanted to buy speedway stout, but unfortunately it was bad, so he couldn´t sell it. Instead I bought Older Viscosity, Angels Share and Hel & Verdoemenis. It was very cheap, only 28 euros. What a friendly staff, to let me in, even when they are closed!! | tipsytoad (4), , Jersey does not count - explanation | | July 1, 2009 [ Updated July 21, 2009 ] Wow, I cannot thank Alex (the owner) and his team of fantastic staff who know so much and are always thirsting for more knowledge (see what I did there). This is one of THE best bars in Europe for rare beers. Alex has connections with many European brewers such as De Molen, Kerkom, Proef, Mikkeller and more. 20 odd beers on draft including real ales. Over 100 bottles from the US, Belgium, UK, and Scandanavia. I had bottles from Jolly Pumpkin, Southern Tier, Lost Abbey, Port Brewing, Dogfishhead, Alesmith, Nogne, Mikkeller, Amager, Brewdog... the list goes on and no doubt will change monthly. Couple this with a new micro brewery on the premises, fantastic fresh and innovative food, a fabulously modern bar and open top roof looking out at the eternal city - this was beer heaven. De Molen hel & Verdoeminus on draft!!! And it’s open until 4am!! I’ve never walked into a bar and literally been unable to pick a beer simply because of the massive choice of interesting beers which you just don’t see ianywhere. Many thanks Alex for a memorable time, i’ll be back next year for sure! | tunneler (4), Charlottesville, Virginia does not count - explanation | | June 23, 2009 by far the best beer joint in Rome. Seems a little out of the way on a map, but is a reasonable walk from the city center. Alex (owner/importer) is incredibly knowledgeable about beer and incredibly hospitable as well. Try the house brew if you’re into wood-aged IPA’s - amazing! Selection is the best I’ve seen in terms of rare beers. If you’re from America, you’ll find many beers not available on your respective coast. A must-visit for serious beer drinkers in Roma | | leftsmall (12), , | | June 8, 2009 Bellissimo pub, tante birre alla spina buone si mangia discretamente | | lada66 (46), Savonlinna, Finland | | June 2, 2009 A very nice place with a big terrace on the roof. Excellent tap beers and good bottle beers too. And real ales of course. The staff is very friendly. The owner is a beer mad in a good way. Cheers, Alex. I´ll be back (23-27.5.2009).
