One of the beer temples in Rome and probably in the world. A hole-in-the-wall kind of place, no food, almost no tables, but the best beer selection from all over the world and the most competent and friendly staff you can find. This is where I found out what beer is really about.

Per la selezione di birre credo sia imbattibile!!! Il personale è super esperto.. sanno consigliare bene! Consigliato soprattutto d’estate perché dentro ci sono pochissimi posti, quindi vale la pena prendere una birra da portare a spasso x Trastevere!

What an incredible find this place was on my last day in Rome. After spending most of the week searching for a great beer spot, I finally befriended a shopowner who referred me to Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fa. My parents and I made an after dinner visit and were immediately blown away by 1) the largest Italian craft selection we’d seen and 2) the Cantillon and Fonteinen vintages available for in-store or to-go consumption. When I asked for a specific Cantillon, the bartender said he didn’t have the size I requested, so he called down the street and found that their sister bar had exactly what I wanted. They allowed me to pay at Ma Che and then walk a few steps and grab my bottle to go with no hassle. Truly a world class place with great service and a warm atmosphere. Bonus points if you go on a night when AS Roma is playing. The place is electric!

My first encounter with one of the famous beer bars in Italy was definitely a great experience. In spite of being rather tight and narrow, this is a cozy beer place full of atmosphere, charm, and about 15 interesting European craft brews on tap, and quite a few bottles in cooler behind the counter where we among Belgian, Danish and American bottles, also spotted God Jul from Nøgne Ø. Among the well-kept draught beers there were four from Denmark (Fanø and Evil Twin), a few from Germany and the Italian ones that I went for. The barman was attentive and friendly giving me tasters before buying. Not too busy late on a Friday afternoon, and with satisfying rating conditions (visited 30.03.2012).
