Livid (3), , does not count - explanation | | December 30, 2011 Echoing some of the other reviews - it’s a dingy little grocery store with a deli (fryer) up front. Never tried the food, wouldn’t recommend it, either. The beer selection, however, is great. Henry does a good job getting seasonals, limited releases, and one-offs. He takes requests, and if he recognizes you, won’t hesitate to drag you over to the cooler to point out new arrivals. Long cooler line of foreign and micros with a couple aisles for the overstock and single 12 ozs. Best selection in the area and sure beats the 2 hour round trip up to John’s in Portland. | | Syzzer (61), Oregon | | August 3, 2011 [ Updated September 17, 2011 ] EXCELLENT selection of beers around the world. The beers are separated into countries and states. There are three extra long isles of beer. AWESOME selection. Also, they are open late, til midnight | Rogersjd (8), Tigard, Oregon does not count - explanation | | June 15, 2011 Pretty ghetto store with a great selection. Spray on your best cologne and walk into the store, come out smelling like you took a dip in the grease trap!
Again the selection is second only to John’s in Portland... | | DeweyDell (10), Columbus, Ohio | | March 18, 2010 Really the only thing that matters to me about a beer store is selection. I can deal with the ghetto convenience store atmosphere, and the fact that the only food they serve is ugly looking hot dogs and stale fried whatchamacallits. While nothing in Salem even approaches the awesomeness of the selection in Portland, I was really impressed with the wide selection of beers this place had in stock. I come from Ohio and back there, this place would be considered top of the line. So yeah, definitely worth a stop if you’re in Salem. | ultracake (8), salem, Oregon does not count - explanation | | December 28, 2009 Ok this may seem like a ow score but its a different kind of place. I havnt ask the checker about whats good so i dont know if he knows anything so thats why i gave it a five. for the record they are real nice, The reason the for the low ambiance is that its kind of downtown which isnt good for Salem, ghetto. but its great even if you look homeless like me they wont care. prices seem ok not bad but the selection makes up for the couple of extra pennies you spend. good place to buy beer in Salem. Defiantly check it out. | | auerbrau (232), Peace Dale, Rhode Island | | June 3, 2009 This place is pretty funky place, but with a decent selection and a oasis in the crap hole that is Salem. Lots of local stuff, in singles, with decent prices. The place to go in Salem. | darthservo (1), does not count - explanation | | June 2, 2008 Appearances can be deceiving! Looks just like another mom & pop corner mart, but Capital Market holds the largest and widest beer selection in the Salem/Keizer area. The selection is always consistently large and sometimes surprising with a few rare finds. A wall of refridgerators categorize beer by country or state, while the two aisles aren’t very organized. Overall, the best place to buy bottled beer in Salem. | | spikester (11), Salem, Oregon | | February 5, 2008 [ Updated March 2, 2009 ] Good daytime foreray. After 7:00PM most customers are drunks. Nice selection of micros, fair selection of singles. Henry is trying, but hard to be too great given the location and clientele.
Update 3/02/2009: All new coolers and much nicer looking than before. Most of the beers are now refrigerated and when I visited the display lights were off. Much cleaner and better organized than previously. The 12 ounce singles are still on room temperature shelves and under flourescent lighting. I have often found the 12 ounce singles can be fairly old so watch out. Otherwise a gem in a town that doesn’t have many alternatives. | kenb (4), Oregon does not count - explanation | | August 29, 2006 Pretty good selection for Salem, likely the best around these parts. No ambiance, not much service, and pretty seedy after dark. | | bu11zeye (113), Frisco (Dallas), Texas | | December 6, 2005 Has an descent selection of local brews for Salem. Worth traveling north to Portland. |
