| CharlesDarwin (144), Point Judith, Rhode Island | | June 3, 2009 This place is pretty funky place, but with a decent selection and a oasis in the crap hole that is Salem. Lots of local stuff, in singles, with decent prices. The place to go in Salem. | darthservo (1), does not count - explanation | | June 2, 2008 Appearances can be deceiving! Looks just like another mom & pop corner mart, but Capital Market holds the largest and widest beer selection in the Salem/Keizer area. The selection is always consistently large and sometimes surprising with a few rare finds. A wall of refridgerators categorize beer by country or state, while the two aisles aren’t very organized. Overall, the best place to buy bottled beer in Salem. | | spikester (10), Salem, Oregon | | February 5, 2008 [ Updated March 2, 2009 ] Good daytime foreray. After 7:00PM most customers are drunks. Nice selection of micros, fair selection of singles. Henry is trying, but hard to be too great given the location and clientele.
Update 3/02/2009: All new coolers and much nicer looking than before. Most of the beers are now refrigerated and when I visited the display lights were off. Much cleaner and better organized than previously. The 12 ounce singles are still on room temperature shelves and under flourescent lighting. I have often found the 12 ounce singles can be fairly old so watch out. Otherwise a gem in a town that doesn’t have many alternatives. | kenb (4), Oregon does not count - explanation | | August 29, 2006 Pretty good selection for Salem, likely the best around these parts. No ambiance, not much service, and pretty seedy after dark. | | bu11zeye (112), Frisco, Texas | | December 6, 2005 Has an descent selection of local brews for Salem. Worth traveling north to Portland. | | Reid (30), Salem, Oregon | | January 30, 2005 [ Updated May 22, 2008 ] An old Grocery store, looks like it hasn’t changed since 1950. Near Williamette University.
Has a pretty good selection( for Salem) of NW micros, plus a nice selection of imports, including Thomas Hardy 2004 ($20.99) a four pack.
A recent turn of events. The owner now discourages singles, so im reducing the score further.
This store really isnt worth the bother, even in Salem.
Re-evaluation.Now sells singles and the beer line up has increased drastically.
Guy is really trying to make a go of it.
Got to give him kudos and custom in the hellish neighbourhood he inhabits.
