3sheets2wind (1), San Antonio, Texas does not count - explanation | | April 28, 2012 Best place in san antonio to find beer. SA is not beer-friendly. A bud-light town to say the least. The manager knows what he is doing and they have a nice selection of bombers and make-your-own six packs. I have never gotten a stale beer here. | willisreed (3), Texas does not count - explanation | | July 21, 2011 Great Variety, rewards for paying cash/debit | | llcooldave (22), San Antonio, Texas | | August 3, 2010 Awesome selection of beer. A drinker’s mecca. Great service too... have a question and someone will be there to answer it. This is a regular stop for me on payday so definitely check it out. I think it’s a bit better than the Spec’s that opened up on I-35. | | mmmbeer (47), Austin, Texas | | August 2, 2010 Visited 7-30-2010- Easy to find place with plenty of parking, great wine and liquor selection. Beer- Very respectable amount for sale, with a few items not found in Austin (SA Triple Bock & Longshot comes to mind)- still alot of selection to those out of town, plus a small section to make your own 6 pack. Talked with several employees about beer; always nice to see people who know what the hell they are talking about and what’s going on (End of History). Price- very reasonable, some prices were lower than compared to Austin, some a small amount higher. Overall- it is on the way to Freetail, so I’ll be back again. Word to the San Anton folk- fight against Spec’s as hard as you can- the only loser in a monopoly like they have in Austin is the customer (see selection above). | | DarkBeerChick (15), San Antonio, Texas | | January 1, 2010 Incredible selection...the best in San Antonio. Well over 100 craft, Belgians and foreign imports available to buy as singles and create-your-own 6 pack. Largest single beer selection I’ve seen in the state of Texas. Staff is super friendly and willing to give ya the inside scoop on what they’ll be getting in stock soon, what distributors are up to and what their personal favorites are and why. Super clean location with a nice selection of gourmet appetizer foods. | | BarZigKin (29), San Antonio, Texas | | January 1, 2010 This store continues to expand and fill out. During my last visit over the Christmas holiday, I was impressed to see an now VERY extensive (well over a hundred, maybe hundreds?) of single beers now available for a mix-six. Loads (that which could be shipped to Texas, county of Bexar) of seasonal sixes and a good selection of (cold)bombers. Belgian area in the back is to be explored. Jason is very friendly and I feel he is actively seeking to be "the" bottle shop in the SA area. The selection in this store crushes what the new Spec’s currently has. My first stop in SA when I go back to visit. | | SudsMcDuff (112), .....Manchester United.........., Texas | | September 21, 2009 went on Friday the 18th of September 2009. wow, looks like Specs inside, except much more spread out, lots of free space to roam. all their beer is chilled except for their Belgian section. they seem to carry most things available in TX, minus a few of the newer odder/rarer things but still better than average for TX. staff seemed slightly annoyed that customers were shopping there, and it was pretty messy in some parts of the store. stop in if only in SA looking for good brew. plus Freetail is just down the street. | | Hopper (13), The Alamo, Texas | | August 6, 2009 [ Updated November 12, 2009 ] This is probably the best selection of beer in SA. I have been waiting for a liquor store in SA to step up to the plate & Gabriel’s has. You can take Central Market, Alon Market, & Whole Foods & put them together & Gabriels has all their beers plus more. Definitely my #1 beer store now. NOV. 12th UPDATE - This place has really come around now. There single bottle section is the biggest in SA, with them not just putting your average beers(Sam Adams, Shiner, St. Arnold) like the other beer stores do but other selections & they are priced according to 6/pack price. At this point my wallet can not keep up with the new beers they are always bringing in as the store has filled up a lot now. Before there was more open space but now it is really filling in. I like this place. |
