skmikeg (2), Poway, California does not count - explanation | | May 1, 2012 very convenient location off the 15 and a nice new bar top and now has doubled their taps to 20. very nice place to stop by at try pretty much any beer Ballast Point is currently brewing. Wish they would do growler fills of their specialties but overall, its still a excellent place to stop by and try 20 different excellent BP beers. | | tkingsbury2 (15), San Diego, California | | March 25, 2012 Brewery and tasting room in an industrial park. They have all their standard stuff plus some specials on tap. Additionally, the brewery is right behind and you can get a tour of the operation (one of the better microbrew tours I’ve had). My one wish is that their "specials" are not available on site for growler fills or bottles. | | Blairgus (55), California | | March 15, 2012 kind of minimalist/modern. bare room with some tables to stand next to. crowd was all kind of beer geeks in brewery apparel. it was very busy but staff seemed to cope well. tours are only at specific times so didn’t get to see the brewery or distillery. | | AgentSteve (77), SF Bay Area, California | | February 21, 2012 Cool place with many of BP’s best standards on tap, and both times I was there a few special ones were on tap as well. | | MattH (38), California | | January 10, 2012 Nice little brewery located in an industrial park just East of the 15 freeway. Service is quick, polite, and efficient. Patrons are cool and laid back. Place is a little small, but so are most bars. Outside the brewery is a large lawn you can relax on after you drink. On the day I visited they had Victory at Sea and Sculpin along with I guess 8 other beers on tap. Glad I went. Brewery is in close proximity to AleSmith and Green Flash. | | daknole (204), Scottsdale, Arizona | | November 6, 2011 Funny location for this place, but good beer and good service. The other BP is better. | | Dixonian (79), Dallas, Texas | | August 2, 2011 Stopped in last Saturday after visiting Lost Abbey and AleSmith. Small bar in a packed little room - the bartenders were very nice and I got to try their barrel aged Porter which was delicious. I really enjoy their Sculpin IPA and was hoping to try the Habanero version. Very cool local brewery with lots of people drinking and having a good time. | | womencantsail (53), Home of Rebecca Black, California | | July 25, 2011 There is a small tasting bar with 9 taps and a hand pump (which was not in operation). Next to the bar is the cooler with bottles for purchase. The prices on the bottles are quite good, much lower than I generally pay at bottle shops.
The growler and draft prices are fair and I like the fact that they offer a few different sized growlers, although I don’t see myself ever purchasing a 1 gallon growler of anything.
The young lady tending the bar was quite nice and talkative, and was very helpful to us and the other patrons.
A cool place to check out, but not necessarily much to do there. The inside is also fairly small, so I would imagine that it can get cramped when they are busy. | | Terminus (233), Las Cruces, New Mexico | | June 25, 2011 great brewery with a great little tasting room. you can get full pints if you want but i usally just do tastes. however, they had Sculpin on tap, so i had to get a full pint of that! Also bought a few bombers of it too. When i was there, the staff was very frienly both times. a definate must if your in SD. | | JohnnyJ (94), San Diego, California | | May 7, 2011 Small place can get crowded easily, with mostly standard BP stuff on tap. If you are in the area it is worth a stop by, ballast point makes good beer, but it’s not a destination in and of itself. Alesmith is close by. |
