kaceyn (1), San Diego, does not count - explanation | | November 10, 2009 The beer selection and food cannot be matched in San Diego. Make it in within a few hours of opening for best experience. This place can get loud and crowded at night. Their tap list has an iPhone page too! http://iphone.hamiltonstavern.com | Phischy (2), California does not count - explanation | | October 30, 2009 Another go-to spot in town. This place is always busy and I take that as a good thing. Wide variety list in bottles and tap list. They’re the only place I’ve seen certain ballast point beers, including the barrel aged navigator which was fantastic.
Food is good and a bit offbeat, as are the customers. very dark inside and it has pub games such as shuffle puck and pool, although I’ve never played either there.
Staff works hard and knows their shite, which is always a good thing. Just avoid their 2nd Saturday event, it’s a mad house.
| Skubic448 (2), San Diego, California does not count - explanation | | August 5, 2009 [ Updated November 11, 2009 ] My favorite Beer bar in San Diego. They have two pool tables and a shuffle board. More importantly they have a constant rotation of GREAT beers. It does get crowded Thursday-Saturday nights so get there early.
They have really good food next door as well, which you can order in the bar through a little hole in the wall.
Oh, and bring the dog too. | | sebletitje (78), Tampa, Florida | | May 20, 2009 Great beer tavern, with hundreds of tap handles hanging from the ceiling.
Place seemed a little too dim inside.
Lots of local beers to chose from and even the local beer happy hour, making many of them really cheap.
Food order is on the side, and the bbq wings were delicious as was the sandwich.
Place was busy and did not really get to chat with the staff.
Really worth a visit, nice laid back atmosphere and makes you forget you are in the middle of San Diego. | | trokini (57), San Diego, California | | May 12, 2009 Best beer bar in San Diego, just barely edging O’Brien’s. Tons of great taps, plus a massive cooler with beers that I truly have never seen anywhere else in the county. Very cool bartenders that really know their stuff. Food, awesome. Fast nachos rule as does the monte cristo. The vibe is very laid back, dark, and local-friendly. | d0ggnate (5), California does not count - explanation | | May 11, 2009 Hamilton’s is my go to beer destination in San Diego. I remember my first trip to Hamilton’s and how awestruck I was upon first glance at the chalkboard listing all the great beer offerings. I am always able to find something great to drink on draft. Next up you have the great bottle coolers with an every wider selection of great beer to choose from. Hamilton’s is, by far, my favorite place in San Diego to drink beer. | daviddm (1), does not count - explanation | | March 16, 2009 I love this place. They have great beer and a open door dog policy so I can bring my dogs. | | ajm (161), Los Angeles, California | | February 10, 2009 [ Updated March 16, 2009 ] Wicked tight. It’s a little too scene for me, people-wise, but you know what? THEY STAY OPEN TILL TWO AM ON THE WEEKENDS. Get a clue, San Diego. They had Pliny the Younger on tap and Redemption in the bottle, so I was totes impressed. Have been back twice and both times there was only one beer on the list that looked interesting. Bartenders the night I was in were just top notch - very calm, very helpful. A drive down thirtieth street, but North Park are posers anyway. | | hapjydeuce (20), Del Mar, California | | February 9, 2009 This is a nice little place nestled away in the South Park area of San Diego. Went there with Katie to get Pliny the Younger after OBriens had tapped out. Ambiance inside is quite a dive, with a little ghetto cafe next door that serves up pretty damn good burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches through a window linked to the bar room. Pretty small inside, with a good sized bar and just a few tables. The entire back area is taken up by pool tables and shuffleboard. Awesome bottle selection with plenty of Belgians and hard-to-find American brews too. We had some vintage Old Stock. Also available was RR Temptation, Beatification and others. Gets quite crowded during later hours, so reserve your seat at the bar early! | Bohica (1), British Columbia does not count - explanation | | February 1, 2009 Great little neighbourhood dive. The owner is a stark raving beer nut! Place is generally crowded, lots of locals, knowledgeable staff. Blair makes sure to always have local micros on tap, the menu @ the restaurant is always interesting, using lots of fresh local ingredients. The bottle selection is always outstanding. One of my favorite places for a pint. |
