| Goodgrief (27), Middletown, Delaware | | April 17, 2011 A corner market place in Ocean Beach. I went for beer, so I can’t tell you about the fancy schmancy organic food options. I can tell you that they had a great local (and out of area) beer selections at fair prices. Guys behind the counter knew beer and were friendly. I picked up some Blind Pig and Pliny for the trip back east in my luggage...but they had numerous other good local options. Singles available at very fair prices. | | nbutler11 (226), Phoenix, Arizona | | January 19, 2011 Not particularly a beer destination. They have a respectable collection of bottles, but nothing that’s not readily found elsewhere. They have some decent sandwiches on the menu, but I don’t quite get the high rating. | | Travlr (637), Washington, Washington DC | | January 16, 2011 Nice marketplace with good sandwiches and a very good beer selection. Small patio outside. Worth a stop for a quick bite and a nice brew. | | tokyogoat (10), San Diego, California | | December 28, 2010 Mike is the man! Always getting in bottles I want, and pricing them really well.
There are other great bottle shops in north county (HWC and PPBS), and some in south county (SBD), but olive tree really is the best bottle shop in San Diego county. The tasting room they opened is just the icing on the cake.
Mike has done very impressive things with a somewhat unassuming neighborhood market in OB. And is the only reason (sans pizza port) that i’ll venture into OB. | | jonno (92), , Japan | | December 28, 2010 [ Updated March 22, 2011 ] Not a huge selection but Mike provides excellent serice and they have a few rarities. The tasting room out the back is wonderful. Great lighting and fixtures - and fantastic bathroom!! | | peteinSD (34), San Diego, California | | September 30, 2010 I stop in here when I’m in the area. Not the biggest selection but there always is some very high quality beer at very affordable prices - full $2 less per bottle on some of the most sought after beers as compared to Holiday or PP Bottle Shop. Definitely worth a look. | | danielcurtis81 (16), San Diego, California | | April 10, 2010 Ahh OTM, without a doubt my go to place for beer. The location is near perfect for me and the selection is immense and growing every time back. Mike is the beer guy there and really knows his stuff and takes pride in what he does. Has made many improvements to the place since I’ve been going there and I look forward to the new tasting room opening soon. The beer prices are the best in town on average. The grocery part of the store is nice but can be a little expensive. The sandwich counter offers really good sandwiched and rotisserie chickens as well. They also have an enormous root beer offering too. | | Phischy (57), California | | March 10, 2010 [ Updated July 9, 2010 ] This is a market so I didn’t rate the food since you can’t sit down and dine. Although they make really tasty sammitches and I love the baked cookies.
Tasting room is open and Mike knows his stuff. Expect it to expand in terms of beer after a year or so open. Maybe. Great place to hit a variety of beers which rotate weekly and every beer available for tasting is for sale in the market. Bring your receipt for a discount at the main register.
Def the place to get bottles in central san diego. | annapolisbeer (4), San Diego, California does not count - explanation | | May 26, 2009 MIke Is great and its good to know we have a quality bottle shop in OB! The selection will grow with the renovations they are about to do! Haven’t tried their food yet.
Selection is changing fast now that people know about the olive tree. | d0ggnate (5), California does not count - explanation | | May 11, 2009 I finally got a chance to stop by Olive Tree today. I had the day off work and thought what an opportunity I have to try some place that I’ve been thinking of for some time now.
I dropped by just after 3pm. Not busy at all, and I went straight for the beer section. Holy shi... Great selection!! A few fridge doors of quality craft beer. Another few shelves of unrefrigerated liquid gold.
As I perused, I found a large assortment of solid drinkers. A closer look found me with some beer gems. HotD Blue Dot, Avery Brabant, Ommegang Biere de Mars, etc. What a great spot to grab those beers you’ve been longing to try and just haven’t stumbled upon yet. As I checked out, the cashier and I discussed how some of these beers were going to taste and what we thought of other beers in general.
A great atmosphere, quality selection of beer and other goods offered, and all around good times. I was also able to grab a sandwich from the deli and found that to be delicious. I can’t wait to make my way back to |
