May 15, 2011 Good Gaslamp District location. Large red wood bar with a view into the brewhouse and its stainless steel vessels. 11 TVs angled from all directions, some showing other than basketball. High ceiling in the main room with laquered wood and steel beams. Glass and wood interior with a view out onto 4th Street. Booth seating with some dining tables in the raised lounge area. An upper level with a large-screen TV. TV with excessive audio levels for Basketball fans who apparently can’t follow the games without the noise of screaming crowds. Bartenders appear farsighted at times and empty glasses idle blatently while awaiting a refill. Row of outdoor patio tables with an Eastern exposure and offering a CD tunes and a reprieve from the TVs. Some happy hour deals. No free WiFi. Mug Club members serving size offered. |

January 1, 2011 There for lunch; lunch menu not very extensive as the other Rock Bottom I was ats dinner menu. My salad was very good but my wife said her burger was good but not anything special. Beers were all solid and the two stouts were very good and I guess I will have to add the expresso stout. They would not do growlers of the higher gravity beers but $10.49 for a growler of Hefe inclucding the growler was exceptionally cheap for California. |

November 9, 2010 Walked here from our Motel 6. Pretty standard Rock Bottom interior with brick walls and the posibility to see the brewery. The beer quality is not bad - but not too exciting either. I managed to pick up 8 new ratings here. Didn’t eat. |

January 11, 2010 Have been to Rock Bottom a couple times and have not been impressed with their beers. The food is very good and the restaurant is comfortable. Not worth fighting the downtown crowd for. |

August 28, 2009 (Visited 09-2008): The downtown San Diego Rock Bottom is located off 4th and G Street. Expensive lots and garages are nearby, and some street parking if you are lucky enough to get it.
After passing a small patio, the interior is pretty similar to other locations. Brick interior with viewable brewing equipment behind glass, and a large chalkboard listing their current beers on tap. The bar is in the center of the space, with seating all around. Big windows allow a good view outside.
The beer selection is fair. The beers range from year-round offerings like Pelican Light, Point Break Pale, Regatta Red and Sunset Stout to a couple seasonals such as Rosie Cheeks Blonde and Fire & Ice IPA. The beers are average for the most part.
Service was good on a weekday early evening prior to a Padres game. The bartender was knowledgeable and knew the beers very well.
I did not try any food on this visit.
Overall I wouldn’t recommend Rock Bottom as a top brewpub choice for San Diego, but it is a good downtown one-two punch with Yard House considering how close they are together.

April 10, 2009 What can I say? Its a Rock Bottom. Not horrible, not great - but decent. Their beer is mediocre, but not horrible. |

August 7, 2008 This place fucking sucks. I walked in there to try to kill some time while waiting for my plane . It was crowded as fuck and a bit understaffed. I sat at the bar for literally 10 minutes and was ignored the entire time. I walked out. You can keep your less than mediocre shit beer. |

April 3, 2008 Trendy chain microbrewery. It has a friendly atmosphere and great food to go along with a mediocre beer selection. A place to introduce people to beer, not to take a beer geek on a date. |

July 26, 2007 House beers are pretty good. Venue is large and cheery. Staff was really attentive. Food was surprisingly good. |
