| cpetrone84 (34), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | May 10, 2012 Great selection, especially with the onsite consumption beers. Very good people working there, knowledgable and friendly. Better than Toronado in my opinion. | | womencantsail (53), Home of Rebecca Black, California | | April 27, 2012 The store is a bit hard to find, so make sure you right down the address and pay attention to the buildings. Parking can also be a bit difficult, so just take the first spot you can find that’s within a reasonable distance.
The store itself is rather tiny with plenty of coolers, boxes, and shelves full of beer. There’s also a bar where there are several beers on tap and also some snacks available for purchase (like cheeses and crackers).
The prices vary quite a bit, with some things being quite reasonable (or even a good deal) and others being on the high side. I was primarily there to pick up bottles of 50/50 Imperial Eclipse, but I certainly took a look around.
The service was good, but not necessarily anything amazing. But, as I said, I mostly just picked up a few bottles.
There are some beers that are fairly difficult to find in CA, which I appreciated. They also had some vintage offerings which are nice, but you, of course, must be willing to pay the premium. | | thehead92 (12), Calgary, Alberta | | March 28, 2012 Best beer selection ever.... | | bmerz (61), New York | | March 25, 2012 I have been here a half dozen times on trips to SF over the last few years. Being pretty central it is a no brainer of a beer stop. It’s more bar like now with the expanded space (a good thing!) and seemingly more new and local focused program. The bottle options were very good though with fewer non-CA beers or special/limited than i remember. Still it is an exceptional place to shop or drink. One of the best in the country for sure. | | Frank (50), Chicago, Illinois | | March 22, 2012 This place is awesome. It is about fifty percent specialty beer store and fifty percent tap room. The taps were great. It didn’t have an enormous selection but what they had was well thought out and somewhere around fifty percent of the handles were rare or otherwise special. The store provided a good selection w/ a heavy focus on craft beer specialties. Vibe was low key and the staff friendly and attentive. I felt very comfortable w/ my notebook, stopping in to rate a few pints. A definite must stop for a beer hunter. | | Scopey (150), Croydon, England | | March 8, 2012 Easily one of the best "beer shops" I’ve ever been in. It’s a hybrid between a bottle shop and a craft beer bar actually. The bottle shop part has a well thought out selection of beers. The biggest section is of course California beers with all the best brewers covered - Alesmith, Drakes, FW, Lost Abbey, RR etc. As well as hard to get a hold of American beers from the likes of Midnight Sun. There world-wide selection is extensive. All beers are available for on-site consumption. They have a couple of fridges behind the small bar area for on-site consumption only (some at fairly high prices mind you), which is a good idea as enables you to drink rarer beers that would normally fly off the shelves. We shared a bottle of Cascade Sang Rouge for example. There is a also a small, but impressive tap list, which included FW XV and Midnight Sun Berserker amongst others! Friendly service and laid-back ambience when we visited during the day mid-week. It’s tough to fault..... | | csteele2144 (11), Chicago, Illinois | | March 5, 2012 One of the best stops I made during my trip to SF. Fantastic selection and great taps! | | maxyeti (10), , France | | March 3, 2012 my favourite place in SF. Great choice of european brew | | TEJA (36), Stockholm, Sweden | | March 2, 2012 Beer Mecka. They have just quality beer from all over the world. A litle more expencive than other stores. Knowledgeble people. They also serve other fine localy produced beer on tap. Had a very good dark american lager that was more like a good German Schwartsbier. | | Ferfie (11), Edmonton, Alberta | | February 21, 2012 Really good selection of beer in store, awesome taps: speedway stout, deliverance Firestone walker XV, cuvée de tommie,. Came twice and first time bartender was a little attitude-y, but the guy working the store was rad, next time the bar tender, Nick, was awesome, all in all, great place both during and after beer week. |
