| OldGrowth (132), North Carolina | | May 2, 2012 Wife and I visited on a mildly busy Tuesday night, great looking place, medium color wood, tile floor, it’s a tight fit, 49 people max according to permit. We has good service this night. Between waitress and others this were attentive, but not overbearing. Bar seats maybe 12. Some other tables where you walk in. Food we had was good, wife had a chicken sandwich, I had a bricked chicken, both very tasty. Not a large selection of bber, but covered a nice territory, both draft and bootle, though bottle list seemed pricey, they do have a vintage list too. Prices in line for San Francisco, so pricey for most of the US, but felt like it was good quality in both food and beer. Not a go out of your way for kind of place, but good to go to if in area. | maclow (1), , does not count - explanation | | April 9, 2012 Awesome pub with amazing beer selection. Comfortably sit and drink fine tasting local ales all night until stumbling home or step it up and have an expensive Belgium with a finely cooked meal. Appreciate the affordable burger.
| | bmerz (61), New York | | March 25, 2012 Nice place with pretty good and not too expensive gastro-pub food but its a bit theme-y and almost contrived as such. The beer list both draught and bottle is large and has lots of fairly hard to find or limited bottles including vintage options. It is astoundingly expensive, at least 30% higher than what I think is reasonable. There were only a few draughts of local options under $10. | | Scopey (150), Croydon, England | | March 6, 2012 [ Updated March 7, 2012 ] Small bar-restaurant located a short BART journey from the tourist centre of SF. Nice laid back atmosphere and friendly, knowledgeable staff. 23 taps of mostly CA breweries: Russian River, Moonlight, Alesmith, North Coast and the Bruery amongst others. Bottle list is quite extensive and includes some interesting beers, but it is a touch pricy. Food was really tasty - I opted for the scallops & mussels with a spicy ale broth. An all-round great venue for beer and food in SF. | | Nik925 (20), California | | July 20, 2011 Pretty good food and beer selection, but it is going to cost you. Not in the best location. More of a restaurant that a bar, so if you think of it as a restaurant instead of an awesome beer bar, it is pretty good. If you pay attention you will find something really rare on tap, but mostly common beer (among the SF beer geek places). | | Boliv (35), New York | | May 28, 2011 Another great local spot shared by some locals. I love this part of town, very fun. The place was packed when we got there, and I hear it’s always pretty busy, but we managed to get some counter space and stools. There’s a pretty impressive selection of draft and bottled beers, although the prices were pretty steep for some. The food, however, was damn good, from what I sampled. Had a fantastic pretzel with spicy mustard, and some of the best french fries I’ve had in a long time. A very fun place. | | scooterling (10), S. San Francisco, California | | May 13, 2011 Such a wonderful establishment with some great burgers and mac and cheese. I believe they have at least 20 taps and easily over a hundred in bottles. The beer list is printed out and put on clipboards which are at the bar. Food is great (but a tad pricey) and the beer selection ranges the entire spectrum from $100 bottles to Grandpa’s Suds - a can of Olympia! | | sogrady (20), Maine | | February 13, 2011 The beer bar I go to when in SF and need food. Good to great selection of beers, both domestic and global. Food’s interesting if pricy.
My only real issue is the size: it’s not a big place, and it’s usually full. Been by four times, had to take off twice for lack of room.
Great place, though. | | mrmartin (22), Oakland, California | | February 4, 2011 Respectable tap and bottle list.
Friendly staff, beautiful facility. Probably feels a little tight when its busy. Food was pretty good. Beers were quite expensive and the cost for me is enough to avoid but if money is not an issue--this place is beautiful.
| | WeeHeavySD (111), San Diego (Hillcrest), California | | January 4, 2011 I went here yesterday with my cousin who lives in the neighborhood. I rated a new quad for me and had a really tasty turkey burger with blue cheese. Nice vibe and awesomely cool staff. A little small, but a nice vibe for an afternoon lunch. |
