Stopped in here twice during SF beer week, once for an event and another when nothing was going on. I have wanted to check this place out ever since I stopped at the one in SD, glad I could finally visit it. Atmosphere was exactly how I expected it to be, jam packed and loud. Tons of people all over the place enjoying themselves, some a little too much. I like these kinds of beer bars so if you don’t I could see why some wouldn’t like it. Service was good even when they were getting slammed with orders. I had a bit of trouble getting their attention but once they saw me it was smooth sailing. Quality was high on the beer end, correct glasses and such, the bar itself could use a hose down every once in a while but it wasn’t that bad. Selection was excellent as expected. I was able to try a bunch of the Moonlight beers which was awesome as well as Anchor OBA which has been on my wants for years, all of which was after the -tion night beers which were incredible. Since they are connected to the sausage house next door I am just going to include it, the merguez sausage was awesome. Prices were quite good, even during the event. Overall it was exactly what I was expecting, and even a little more. I would be a regular here if I lived in the bay area.

Can’t beat the selection, honestly, but as much as I like dives, this place is a little too grimy. Especially the service. But can’t argue with one of the only places to get a varied selection of Russian River in SF proper

Inadvertently popped in during a 49ers playoffs game. So... pretty busy. But the service was still surprisingly good. And it seemed like there was $1 off the already good prices. Big high quality selection. Would return.

Compared to the San Diego location, this is more like a rustic dive bar. Tap selection is solid, though there wasn’t anything crazy / special on draught. Bottle list wasn’t very interesting, surprisingly. Servers have a bit of attitude, but are generally helpful. Prices are reasonable. No food served, but you can bring your own food inside. Worth a stop, but definitely an overrated place.

Utter dive bar. Loud, noisy, and smelly. Nice to smell weed right off the bat there. For a busy night I got good service and was impressed by that.
Tap list was a bit meh and bottle list was not any better but the markup was worse.
Yes it is a historical place in beer culture but not my type of place.

Has some sense of original beer culture. No hints of commercial bullshit. Toilets are fabulous. Lady behind desk seems to know every customer expect me (which is natural because this is my first time here). Because I am Finnish I have to say something negative: All beers are very cold.

I guess Im just too old for this shit, classic dive bar, smells bad, sticky tables, grumpy bartenders, decent selection but I am just not into it.

Historic bar in SF!!! Tap selection is awesome and solid ( very similar to the San Diego one!) cool ambiance, always very crowdy!
Bottle selection was good, but maybe I was expecting a little bit more... The service was pretty bad (maybe cause of the amount of people!). I know that maybe I am the only one in the world, but I prefer the SD location. Hope to see one day this place and the bartenders more relaxed and have a chat with them!

Came by for a few visits during my SF stay. Dunno man, I just reckon Toronado rocks. From my limited experience here everyone was pretty cool. Great beers, surly staff, byo food, happy hour Pliny, chatty locals, good music, beery paraphernalia all over the place, dive atmosphere. Loved it.
