Bathory (8), Bryne, Norway does not count - explanation | | April 19, 2012 Very good selection, and some interesting ones on tap, with some rotation of selection. The staff has a knowlegde of the beer they’re serving. And they have a pooltable! | alfhansen (1), Bryne, Norway does not count - explanation | | February 25, 2012 It’s my go to pub, and the main reason for that is the very qualified staff and the, as norwegian standards go, very good selection. I have chosen not to rate the food, althoug they have pizza, nachos etc. the selection of food, clearly sites this is not a food pub.
Recently had Beer Geek Brunch on tap, and there is usually something enjoyable and/or exciting on tap. The selection of bottled beers is only bested by Cardinal in Stavanger, but at a more decent price.
Combine this with the fact that it looks, feels and souds like a pub, rather than a disco, wich seems to be the case most places nowdays, this makes for a very good pub all in all. | | Bryne (153), , Norway | | February 5, 2012 Excellent service! Well updated beer menu. We came early a Saturday evening and left about 22.00. Few customers during our stay, which is a typical phenomenon here in Norway. Most people arrive at the pub after 22.00, many already well drunk... Bad for business, but great for me! I like to enjoy my beer when its not to crowded. Then I also have the bartender "all by myself" To quote "The Terminator": I ll be back! . (Visited February 4th 2012) | | visionthing (114), Oslo, Norway | | November 16, 2011 Nice pub not far from the train and bus station. Very relaxed on a Tuesday evening. Good selection of bottles, especially Scandinavian beer. Major brands on tap, but also some interesting ones. At the time of my visit there was one from Mikkeller and one from Ægir I think. | | banii (22), Trondheim, Norway | | October 20, 2011 The place to drink beer in the greater Sandnes-area. Great beer selections, and if you look hard enough you’ll find some gems. Mikkeller, JP, NØ, Green Flash, Stone +++
The "cheap"(shitty) beers are expensive, and the "expensive" (good and rare) beers are cheap, atlest compared to the insane prices at Cardinal in Stavanger. I would rather go to Melkebaren for special bottled beer, than Cardinal for this reason. | | Beer3000 (38), Kristiansand, Norway | | September 25, 2011 Nice and relaxing environment at a midweek early afternoon. I know they are clever with different activities as quiz, beer tasting etc. and probably lot more crowdie then and during week-ends. Anyway I had a good opportunity to talk to the bartender and learned about their beer philosophy. It’s certainly not the easiest thing to run a good beer bar at a small place like Sandnes. One of the challenge is the fact that’s it’s only a 30 minute train journey away to Cardinal, the Norwegian pub with the biggest selection. But I actually found a few beers that are not available at Cardinal and also a few treasures that have been sold out from other places long time ago. So this place can definitively be well worth the trip if you are a beer hunter in the area and do visit them anyway any now and then if you live in the area just for the support. The beer selection is anyway definitive among the better in Norway. | | gunnar (178), Sandnes, Norway | | May 23, 2011 Decent selection of bottles, pale lagers mostly, but also some Nøgne Ø.
Best place for beer in Sandnes, but if you know your beers, take the train to Stavanger. | | Frontoviki (13), , Norway | | March 24, 2011 Best beer place in Sandnes | hanabel (9), Stavanger, Norway does not count - explanation | | March 13, 2011 Veldig bra ølbar, rett og slett! God mat også. Skreddersys til ølsorter. | | Sigmund (112), Hafrsfjord, Norway | | October 5, 2010 Melkebaren (= "The Milk Bar") is located in Bøndenes Hus (= The Farmers’ House) in the centre of Sandnes, where a milk bar actually was located in my childhood days. The bar has now a rustic interior, which would look slightly misplaced in any other town than Sandnes. The beer selection is more than decent, I’m not sure if that can be said about all the punters. Selection of bottled beers includes Nøgne Ø and some fine Belgians. Very favourable prices on 3 tap beers Mondays and Tuesdays. Did not eat, only food is nachos and two kinds of pizza. Friendly staff. |
