I bumped the selection and overall rating up a bit just because of the location of this place. I visited the quaint, trendy town of Saxapahaw for the first time in several years. I intended to get lunch at the great general store...I did not expect to leave lunch with bottles of 4 Calling Birds, Sculpin, and Wilco Tango Foxtrot. 5 swing door coolers of beer is all they have, but the selection is great and the prices are not inflated because of the town’s relative isolation. It’s well-curated too, and though i didn’t ask for or need help, the posted staff picks indicated that at least a few of the employees know their beer. Kind of a snooty, more organic-than-thou atmosphere overall, but it comes with the territory. It’s a pretty good destination, because the cafe serves delicious locally-sourced food and the store has a collection of very nice wines, cheese, gourmet sodas, local meats & dairy, etc.
