| Dedollewaitor (207), Odense, Denmark | | July 11, 2011 This is out of the many "kellers" I’ve visited in Franconia the most local and simple. Tables and benches and a little very old "Scout-cabin" in the middle of nowhere. Made me think of Freddie at Camp Crystal Lake. However the Lager is amazing. 3.50 for a Maz (1 Liter) is insane. The quality and value is indescribable. Hoppy and just really fresh! Self served keller, so really no service, but who cares. ?! | | pivnizub (379), Bochum, Porúří, Germany | | January 29, 2011 Shady beer-garden - in Franconia called "Keller" - on the edge of the village of Schlammersdorf; simple Kellerhaus, simple benches and tables, very friendly service ( done by the brewer, Mr. Witzgall himself) and the best - extremely well hopped and balanced - Landbier in the world !!!! Worth a journey...... | Erlangernick (2), Erlangen, Germany does not count - explanation | | January 28, 2011 [ Updated February 12, 2011 ] There is really nothing to criticise here: this is the way a Bierkeller should be. There is only one beer, the WItzgall Landbier, but not from the bottle, like you get it at the brewery. This version is unfiltered, from the keg, poured under gravity ("bayerischer Anstich"). It’s a very simple place, no frills. But then 3,20€ a liter for one of the absolute best beers in the country...don’t miss it, someday it’ll be gone. One point off because it is a bit shady if you like sunshine. UPDATE: Remove the errant semicolon from the end of the URL given to get to the correct website. And the location given at that website isn’t 100% correct. My own GPS coordinates: 11.01166° E 49.76991° N. |
