Some beers from Franconia, hard to get in Berlin - but only small collection of franconian beer - overall. Don´t expect too much...

5 minutes walk from Nollendorfplatz U, you get a Franconian speciality shop between housing blocks. I met the owner, a cook, who had a pretty good knowledge of the brewerys and their beer present at the shop. I found the selection good, as there were many unknown brewerys for me. Very good service.

The shop is very ascetic, includes some Franken paraphernalia and service vitrine with sausages etc. Beers were disappointment mostly only 5 differnt or so, not a glimpse of St. Georgenbräu Kellerbier. The prices were high and the selection boring. Some pils, weizen etc supermarket stuff from Franken. Some points for Aecht Rauchbier, but it too was expensive. You can buy them all cheaper in other shops in Berlin. The idea is nice, but poor selection and no knowledge about the beers from the lady or the owner lower the scale quite a lot. Edit 20130410: During my last visit last year, the lady let me take cold beers I wanted from their fridge in the back. That’s was nice service.

Cozy room with lots of specialties from Franconia. The woman behind the counter was very helpful trying to find the beers I wanted but she knew very little about beer and had to make a phone call to determine whether one of the beers was a pils or not. Some of the beers are hard to get outside Franconia while others are more common. Decent price level.

A friendly shop not far from the Kudamm. A selection of wine, food and schnapps plus a fine range of beers ranging from the Bamberg standards to more obscure stuff. Decent prices, good service.

A little surprised not to find this in the db already, they’ve been around for a while. Basically they import a lot of things from Franconia, including excellent meats and other foods, local swag, and, of course, beer: there’s a rotating lineup of around 40 bottles, with several shipments each month. By the dates, bottles were all fresh, and it’s nice not to have just Schlenkerla and Spezial represented, especially when it comes to Kellerbier (there were quite a few smaller breweries I hadn’t even heard of). Super, super nice people. If you’re making a trip to KaDeWe or something in the area, make a little detour and pick up something here you can’t find anywhere else.
