Bar next to Last Drop, owned by Collins Pub. Taps are well kept, decent selection. There’s a decent bottle list as well. Service is good. Food looks really appetizing, looking forward to getting more of it, they have nightly specials. Overall, not a bad place to check out if you are in the area.

I’ve really, really wanted to like this place but after a number of visits I can’t seem to find ample cause to do so. Decor and attempt at a general vibe are a direct copy of Naked City, but it falls flat due to a smaller, more cramped environment, bad acoustics, and servers who don’t give nearly enough of a f***. Tap list is consistently interesting (Cascade, Chuckanut, etc.) without reaching exceptional; on the other hand Gripe: Tonight there was really good stuff on the "up next" list and my top two choices had "just blown" according to the server, but they weren’t going to tap any of those new kegs tonight. WTF? Food is OK but not great. Yes, it’s better than Coopers across the street, but so is the concession stand at an M’s game.

Another of my neighborhood bars. Been here many times since opening. Last visit Dec 2010. I really want to like this place, but it just quite turn the corner and make it a neighborhood hangout. Th ambiance is nice with great music and a brick wall, but it seems the crowd, staff, and owner need to soften up a bit. Cooper’s across the street is much more of a place to see a barfight, but has a much looser clientle. Roosevelt Alehouse nearby is somewhere in between Cooper’s and HPH, and has become our regular place as a result. This is a place to go for some very good food, with quality Belgian and American craft beers to go with it. They have Pliny on tap as often as any other Seattle beer bar, which says someting of the owner’s desire to bring great beer to HPH. HPH is much like the Latona Pub- great food, great but not deep beer selection, and a staff that almost makes you feel welcome.

Not a beer mecca, exactly, but a great place for a craft beer fan to get a great plate of food. Sister establishment to downtown’s very fine Collins Pub. This place puts slightly greater emphasis on the food than Collins does. It feels a little less like a restaurant than Collins does, due to having slightly less seating. Both are beautifully appointed with huge hardwood barbacks that dominate your line of sight when you first walk in. HPH serves interesting comfort food with a twist, for the most part. I’ve had great brunch, gazpacho, and a ribeye there so far. The beers don’t quite range into the realm of serious rarities, and the staff, by and large, can’t be described as beer dorks. But they keep the lines clean, can describe how the beers taste, and serve in real beer glasses. It’s a block from the far-more-established Cooper’s, which is also a go-to for beer dorks, but this place feels much nicer and has better food. Both Cooper’s and HPH have decent-to-good tv options for sports fans.
