| OldGrowth (132), North Carolina | | September 8, 2011 [ Updated September 9, 2011 ] Visited a couple times while in Seattle. Nice place little outdoor area bar on left side S come in. Tight space. Few booths up front. More tables in back. Solid enough selection bunch of pacific northwest brewer’s. Couple Belgians. Service was good during midday, little slower at dinner, but not offensively so. Wouldn’t go near the place if Mariners, Seahawks or Sounders have a home game. Food was good, I had fish and chips, wife got. Salad. Onion rings could of been good, but were in one big tangled blob. Not bad prices for area. Overall I like it. Pliny the elder came on when I was there. | | HopScotchnWine (11), Washington | | March 19, 2011 Best tap selection in the immediate downtown/ pioneer square neighborhood. Destination for many on the march to sounders games so beware, it will be packed. Knowledgeable staff and the food is well above par. Lineup is NW dominated but usually a surprise (limited release) or two available. | | presario (135), Stampede City, Alberta | | February 26, 2011 Went for lunch. Has kind of an industrial office feel to it. Tables up front are kind of cosy. Lots of room in the back. Lots of beers, changing blackboard and very friendly knowledgable staff. | | TheRealMGD (54), Lakewood, Washington | | February 5, 2011 [ Updated April 2, 2012 ] A bit out of the way - which means parking is easier than at most places - The Collins is one of my favorites. It’s located near Pioneer Square, so be prepared for the panhandlers. The selection is excellent and rotating constantly. Not quite in the Brouwer’s range, but invariably very fresh. They have a great cross section of West Coast beers, along with handles from elsewhere. I always seem to find a new ale or variant (e.g. a smoked or infused version of a favorite local craft brew) every time I go. The menu is varied and I’ve never had a less than thoroughly enjoyable meal at The Collins. I rate it very firmly in the gastro-pub category. Service is generally very good (with the occasional let-down, which is to be expected). Bar seating is pretty tight, but there are plenty of booths in the back and a few on the side. I really like the tall tables near the front windows. Tthe outdoor seating is lovelyl when the weather allows. Highly recommended. | | Nalu (19), Washington | | August 12, 2010 My favorite Seattle gastro-pub, I’ve been to the Collins many times. Location is a bit dodgy on the edge of Pioneer Square and the posted hours are not always kept, but the selection is excellent and rotating constantly. I rarely go and not experience a new ale, which is getting more difficult all the time! Food is very good, though I have 2 favorites that I have a hard time deviating from. Service has been variable at times, but usually is quick, friendly and knowledgeable. Indoor seating is semi- to fully-private, bar seating is very communal and the outdoor seating is wonderful when the weather allows. Highly recommended. | | Lagunitasfan (30), San Diego, California | | January 2, 2010 Walked there from the Arctic Club hotel. I had the Halibut and Chips, the wife had the grilled polenta with mushrooms and cheese. Service was fine. Tap list had lots of Northwest beers, but nothing that was "Oh My God!" amazing. Good place for lunch and a good beer or three. Thanks to the Seattle RB crew for the recommendation. | | carruthm (26), Seattle, Washington | | December 11, 2009 Amy is fabulous, the rest of the staff okay. Selection is good though I wished it rotated faster as I like to try new beers and work nearby. Food is tasty but priced at downtown levels. Flaky late night hours as downtown is a ghost town so they often close early. | | BrewDad (360), Olympia, Washington | | October 1, 2009 I have seen news/events advertised from this pub for the last few years and had wanted to see this for myself. Parking can be tough so look for it or pay for it across the street like I did. I found the place to be a new/clean look with high ceilings and new local art on the walls with a tap list that rivals the best. Russian River, to local flair with Big Al Brewing, Trade Route Brewing and Snoqualmie Falls Brewing there where also ore around 25 taps of some killer brews. I was impressed the food was a tad higher priced pub food I am sure for the location not far from some of the big banks and buildings in Seattle plus you have the football and baseball crowds walking buy. This is a great place I am sure I will be back. The bartender knew there product and how to sell the beer. | | Feinschmecker (53), Seattle, Washington | | October 1, 2009 On of the few great stops around Pioneer Square. Awesome selection of seasonal beer from the West Coast. The usually have even something rare that the rest of the city might not get. The food is pretty good. I had the Tempura and the staff was really friendly. | | BigBang (19), Indiana | | June 19, 2009 Top notch experience here. Maybe I just enjoyed Pliny the Elder on tap too much, but had a great time there on my visit. Fish and chips were super and tap list, while not the biggest, was well selected and tasty. Staff was very knowledgeable and super nice. My friend and I were reminiscing the Beatles White Album and the bartender overheard and put on the entire album for us. So we had to listen to the whole thing and enjoy a few more Pliny’s... Kudos on a great pub. |
