dschilberg (5), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | December 18, 2011 Great selection of beer | | DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | October 7, 2011 Located on the backside of Beaver street. A bit cramped on the inside compared to the other Sharp Edge bistro. They had a decent selection of Belgians and craft beers. The food was decent and the portions are not terribly large. You better bring a wheelbarrow full of money because they’re not cheap. | | LinusStick (43), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | July 16, 2010 I hate giving a place a low score based on one visit (more specifically one experience) but here it is. The place was nice. A lot bigger (or so it seemed) than the other locations with upscale, yuppies and overpriveledged rich kids all over the place. The service was terrible. It was empty in our section and we had to wait after our drinks were done (sometimes walking around looking for the waitress) to get refills. I see that is a common thread here so it wasn’t just me. The selection is not as good at the other locations, but still very good. The food was outstanding. The value, sadly, is always low with this chain. The beer is WAY too overpriced. Can’t really knock it, though. They have a lot of overhead and that’s how they afford to keep opening new locations. | | yinzerbeernut (15), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | September 25, 2009 [ Updated February 13, 2012 ] I live a few miles away and find this a perfect place to escape from life for a little while. The Bistro is tucked into a little side street in the haughty ’burb of Sewickley. The layout is much better since they doubled the bar size. It’s worth a ’go’ for Happy Hour where you get 1/2 off Belgium Drafts (Cha CHING!) The staff oozes with knowledge but they sometimes forget to actually wait on you, so I dinged the service some. The beer selection is wide and vast. Some beers can be had elsewhere at better prices but let’s face it, this place is not your local Dollar Store. The menu is unique and I think it fits for what they are shooting for. You cannot beat the 40cent Buffalo Bites when they are on special. I’m also saying they have WiFi. I see one local always toting his laptop around The Bistro and I’ve seen the Bistro listed as an available network albeit a WEP network. I try to not mix my computer with my bar time so I’ve never hooked in. Overall this Sharp Edge location fits exactly where it is and what it is...An Upscale Belgium Beer Bar with a superior educated staff (just don’t be in a rush), plenty of beer variety, and for me just quiet and quaint enough at the right times to escape life for a while. | | Nate (246), Indiana, Pennsylvania | | November 27, 2008 Came for dinner on a Saturday night around 7:30 ... place was very quiet. Good beer selection, just like the other locations - though their tap numbers were a bit lower. The food menu was a bit smaller, but solid. Enjoyed the steak-lamb burger and my wife had a great turkey burger. Service was good & knowledgeable. Prices are high for beer and not really warranted for most of the beers. You’re better off going to happy hour. But by far a great place to go if you’re down that way. | | KornDogg (25), Lancaster, Pennsylvania | | October 9, 2008 My favorite of all the locations... small, but very classy, tucked away down a side st in sewickley... Nice selection on tap, a ton of bottles to go... but far more expensive then other places... I would only recommend drinkin in house... Great food, love the oktoberfest menu.... great specials for Pens games... you might even run into Mario who lives a couple blocks away.... | | SB (24), Pennsylvania | | March 31, 2008 Nice upscale beer house on the main street in Sewickley, PA. Not easy to find. 20 or so taps. Smaller bar area, with tables around to the side. Again nice selection just like the other two sister locations. Bar was nice black granite sat on top of an oak bar. Classy. | | douglas88 (117), Salt Lake City, Utah | | December 22, 2007 [ Updated August 5, 2008 ] Located off the main drag in Sewickley. Offers six packs and food, along with a few beers on tap and a ton in bottles. The prices are high. Expect to pay 10$ at least for a good beer (22oz). The selction is really good, and they have a really nice Belgian collection. Also, good domestics like Bellls and Ommengang. A nice place. 4-630 PM 1/2 off Belgian beers on tap. | | f351c4v (77), Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania | | August 18, 2007 Newest Sharp Edge location in Sewickley. Not easy to find, but is near a small parking lot. The fusion of great beer and the borough of Sewickley seems natural, it’s all high class, right? Some familiar faces from the other Sharp Edge locations, these guys/gals know their beer. Smallish bar area, usually festooned with what you’d expect in this town: the rich, wannabe-rich, and the occasional knowledgeable beer geek. Similar food and beer selection as it’s sister locations, albeit a bit smaller. Worth a stop if you’re in town, but I’d seek out the others if you’re only visiting the ’burgh. | | cheapdark (128), Quiptown & Central Valley, Pennsylvania | | July 13, 2007 [ Updated May 14, 2011 ] This place is located in Sewickley, and driving thru the town you get a high class impression. The people, the way they act and the buildings are all a high class act and so is the Bistro. Hard to find, navigating the streets, I finally found it after a few park and ask situations. Once there, the barmaid Debra, offerred many apologies. This place has a beatiful bar and a big tremendously appealing way of displaying their bottled beers. The layout is clean and pristine. Black granite bars lined with tastefully routed wood. I had 4 big belgian samples for $15, pretty affordable for an expensive towne. Debra was very friendly and knowledgable about the beers. She even assisted me in spelling St. Feuillien! Deb knew her stuff proper, talkative and not pushy. Didn’t have any food this time around. But overall, this is just one great place to go and sample beers, I was really impressed! The owners are always concerned about your enjoyment and take feedback seriously. |
