The Devonshire Cat is a large freehouse located in central Sheffield. Inside it has the feel of 1980’s chain pub with garish carpets and rather nosy customers. The beer selection is rather extensive in cask and bottles, but there wasn’t anything particularly exciting (I would rather visit a Spoons). The ales we had were in good condition. Stop past if you fancy some Yorkshire ticks, but I would stay long.

Nice student pub in Devonshire Green. Extensive selection of beer on hand pump. Large selection of bottled beer, europe and usa. Reasonable prices for city centre. The food i’ve had has been very nice. The main fault I can find is that the place in a modern building and very open, has the feel of a wetherpoons and can get very busy. Still, worth a visit.

Up there with the best bars in the country. Large sprawling pub in a nice area of Sheffield and just off the beaten track far enough to avoid the rabble. Yet usually busy. Largely because it has an unrivalled cask range of beer and a bottle fridge the size of a small off licence! Add to that some exceptional pub food and the only thing missing is a wider keg selection. Otherwise perfect.

You really cannot falter the Devonshire Cat... it has an astounding selection of beers stored in a ’beer box’ with hundreds of bottles to the window, reminiscent of a Belgian shopfront; in large part rare bottled beers from Belgium and further afield(Delirum Tremens! Coopers Austrailain Lager! John Martin Special Export Guinness! St. Bernardus! Gordons Scotch Ale & more!) Frankly I haven’t seen a pub with as much selection as the Devonshire! The staff were really accomodating and actually shared our passion for beer, a rarity in the industry these days! This has been one of the best pubs I have ever been to, I hope I will be in Sheffield again to sample it’s delights once more!

Not sure if this is a modern place, but it felt like one. Very busy, open plan, and clean. Good selection of Belgian bottles and a nice range of cask options.

Visited Sheffield for my mates daughters 21st Birthday, this was deemed to be the meeting place before we walked to a booked meal somewhere close. Great selection of cask and bottled beers, huge walk in, see through fridge for the bottles (staff only) and a good long bar for the handpulls. Staff overworked and not enough of them on my early Saturday evening visit. Very modern design, which I can’t claim to be a big fan of. However, if you have a room as big as a barn, open plan with loads of tables and chairs, with bench seated alcoves at one end, seems like a good idea. Mostly student types, apart from pockets of older people and our party of really older citizens!

Great selection of international beers and a good quality rotating selection of 8 British Cask Ales at any given time. Decent food. However - it can get painfully busy in the evenings, and finding a seat or somewhere to have an audible conversation can be difficult.

WARNING: this is memories from 2005-2006 (I wish I could go back). Selection was great, with up to 8 interesting local beers, and lots of internationals. Relaxed atmosphere, the staff was always friendly and interested.

Great choice and knowledgeable staff, quite big and too open so the atmosphere is lacking slightly. Not eaten in there but the food looks and sounds nice, if a little pricey.
