| Boutip (49), Gatineau, Quebec | | May 8, 2012 This is a serious BBQ place with an extensive choice of BBQ meat. The plates are huge and I had hard time eating more then half of what was in my plate. Extensive selection of craft beers from MA and around the world is also plus. The place is quite popular and we had to wait about half-hour before being seated even though we showed past 8pm on a Sunday night. It doesn’t really matter has it leave time to sit around the bar and have a few drinks. The waitress was great and really helpful. The only things that I though could be improving upon would be the sides, the coleslaw was lacking in flavour and the beans were not sweet or smoky enough (the mac and cheese was great though). This place is really worth the half-hour train ride from Central Boston. | | watson1977 (55), The dub c, Pennsylvania | | January 28, 2012 Bit of a dark, basement type restaurant with a pretty decent craft selection of mostly regionals and some good import bottles as well. Beer pricing is very fair. Food is fairly good here...nice bbq menu that can mostly be tailored so you get whatever you want...kind of expensive...food is good but not great...my brisket was very dry. Service was friendly but it seemed understaffed. If I lived in the area, id go again but id probably look for other bbq spots too. | | Chaseman (17), Massachusetts | | August 26, 2011 I used to come here a lot when I was younger with my family because the ribs are so amazing. After making a return visit years later, I was quite surprised to see their intriguing beer menu. They rotate pretty regularly, but they’re always varied in terms of style and origin. I have only sat in the bar area once while waiting for a table and felt claustrophobic. The dining area is pretty basic, but the service is usually efficient and the food is amazing. Definitely worth the wait, but I would recommend going at an off hour so that you don’t have to stand in line as it’s a very popular destination for beer drinkers and rib eaters. | | TURDFERGUSON (117), Carrboro, North Carolina | | August 16, 2011 This place is overrated for food and beer but I still go here every time I’m in Boston. The service has been bad (rude) both times I’ve been here but fuck those massholes. I think this place used to be better in the early 2000’s and then got shittier as they got a bigger ego. I dunno. Guys in the kitchen were working really hard. I still have the image of them in my head. We were sitting at "bar" seats about 5 feet away from the open kitchen. | | vodka4blood (13), Milton, Vermont, Vermont | | November 12, 2010 Yeah buddy I love this here joint. Smoke me up some pork | | chriso (258), London, England | | July 15, 2010 Visited in April 2010. Interesting place. A rib shack/beer bar hybrid. Jam packed when we visited on a Sunday evening. The bar area - which was where we wanted to be - was too crowded to get into but we only had a 10 minute wait for a table in the restaurant part. Unfortunately our table was very near the open barbeque pit which meant it was stiflingly hot. Quite basic decor. I found three or four new beers out of a list of 20 or so (note there is an exclusive house beer made by Opa-Opa) to drink while eating the excellent ribs. Despite the crowds service was efficient. Unfortunately the heat and the frenetic atmosphere meant it wasn’t really a place to linger for a few more leisurely beers. If visiting again, I’d aim for a quieter time (if that’s possible). | | dukeredhair (20), California | | July 9, 2010 As far as the food goes I’ve always found the sides better than the actual BBQ. The beer selection is good but actual bar area is rather small. | | sailracer (19), Massachusetts | | June 26, 2010 I really want to like this place more than my score shows, but it has a few drawbacks, among them are parking and hit or miss on the BBQ. It seems like the BBQ quality has gone down hill since my first visit. The last two times the ribs were pretty dried out. The quantities were still good. And you can get fried okra there- kind of difficult to find in MA. The ambiance is authentic southern BBQ joint with jazz and blues playing in the background. The beer selection is pretty good. I’ve heard their beer dinners are spectacular but have never been to one. | | Lubiere (349), Ottawa, Ontario | | April 11, 2010 Holly molly....beers and ribs...and loads of ribs. The place was packed but we waited no more than 15 minutes to be seated in the dinning room Really liked the bar area, good selection of taps. But the point of this place is the meat...i had the sampler and my SO the Memphis ribs...wow! Left overs too. Good prices too. Service was a bit on the surley side, but the food makes up for it. | brewinandbbqin (4), Enfield, Connecticut does not count - explanation | | March 21, 2010 I have been to Redbones many times, I have found the service to be great and quick. At the bar you dont wait long for a refill, very important! As far as the food goes, good enough BBQ for me, tasty and plenty of it. Yeah its not cheap like Southern Q is but you are in a major metropolitan New England area so its no surprise there. The atmosphere is cool, very conducive to having a beer with friends. The tap selection is no Sunset Grille sure enough but with 30 + beers available you will find something you like. If you don’t spin the wheel and take your chance! |
