| WVHouseofBeer (16), Morgantown, West Virginia | | September 17, 2009 [ Updated September 21, 2009 ] This is definitely the best place in the tri-state area. Leo’s has quite an impressive selection of beer that will take more than a few trips for even the most seasoned beer enthusiast. They carry a wide range of German beers and some of England’s best as well including 1845, Weihenstephaner, and Ayinger, along with Norway’s Nøgne Ø. As for stateside brews, Avery’s Czar Imperial Stout, Great Divide, Two Brothers, and dogfish head. | | fromred2green (15), , Ohio | | February 11, 2009 [ Updated March 23, 2009 ] If you are in the tri-state area looking for beer you haven’t tried yet, this may be the place to go. While it doesn’t have a large selection of truly rare beers, there are a few hard finds. Leo’s carries a few local brews, quite a few seasonals and harder-to-find macros as well as anything you could find at your corner store. Best of all, they will sell individual beers so it’s not necessary to buy a six-pack just to try something new. Worst of all, they only take cash. | | Dogbrick (218), Columbus, Ohio | | October 10, 2008 (Visited 12/2007): Leo’s is located right off route 52 in South Point which is a few miles from Ashland. They have a small parking lot in front of the store.
The store is pretty expansive inside and has a convenience store look about it. The beer is located in the rear of the store and is divided by a cooler section and a shelf section.
Leo’s has a pretty good selection of beer. Regional beers like Hoppin’ Frog, Thirsty Dog, GLBC and Bell’s are mingled with micros like Stone, Alesmith, Victory, etc. There is also a pretty good selection of imports divided by Country (Russia, England, Belgium etc). Some beers are available in singles too. It is evident though that some beers are not turned over as quickly as they should be (a telltale coat of dust).
Service here is reasonably good, the owner asked if he could help me with anything. I have to ding them a bit for not taking credit cards though.
All in all this is a good spot to hit on the OH/KY/WV border.
