They have an assortment of harder-to-find beers on draft from Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier and Anchor Liberty Ale to a rotating spot that’s held Pacifico, Dos Equis and others (often seasonally perfecto). I can always find something I’d want to drink among the draft beers, though I like the fresh cocktails here too. If you want Bud Light, Olympia or PBR, they have them too. The Standby is my favorite happy hour spot.

The Standby has been open for a couple of years now and has evolved into quite the beer joint. If you’re looking for an Ommegang Abbey Ale, a Racer 5, or just a can of Hamm’s, you’re gonna find it here. Very clean with a nice lounge area, great jukebox and superior service from the owner and all his minions, you just cannot go wrong with the Standby. When in San Francisco or the Peninsula, make this a must stop, and if you live in the area, make this your regular beer joint.
