aphelion1979 (7), , England does not count - explanation | | December 4, 2011 A very nice little pub in the back streets of southsea. place is always busy, and can be a bit cramped at times. interestingly decorated (coasters on broom-handles??) in my opinion the atmosphere could be improved with some music (maybe not everyone’s taste). anyway, the beer selection is always impressive, and they do use a few local microbreweries too. they also stock some interesting belgians, lambics, krieks, rochefort etc. staff are also helpful. its a good place, recommended. | | SaintMatty (128), Uppsala, Sweden | | July 31, 2009 A really cosy and friendly pub in a fairly quiet street. They usually have some Oakleaf beers including Hole Hearted (named inspired by the pub) as well as some guests from all over the country. Their website lists both current and forthcoming beers, so it’s worth checking out in advance if you’re looking for ticks. Very friendly, unless you mention that you support Southampton :) | | ladnewton (129), London, England | | July 20, 2009 A very friendly pub in Southsea, offering five changing real ales plus real cider. Regularly features a beer from the excellent Oakleaf brewery. I have visited the pub three times between 2003 and 2005 and enjoyed every session there. The ales were always well-kept, the pub is regularly listed in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide, and as a Londoner visiting the pub I have always been afforded a warm, friendly welcome. A filling food menu is offered which features reasonably-priced sausages, pies, sandwiches and jacket potatoes. When in Portsmouth and Southsea for any reason this is a pub you ought to seek out and visit. |
