| ultrashuai (22), Bloomington, Indiana | | March 13, 2012 The two things I really loved about this place were the foyer and the patio. This is the best patio that I could see in Soulard, and that’s where most people were on the nice afternoon we came in. The front of the bar has a couple of couches in a circle, partially illuminated by the window. The wall by the door is a mural of their logo made of beer bottle caps. Very nice touch.
Concrete floors, very black and kind of dark inside. There are lots of different seating areas though, and it makes it easy to sort of have your own space. A number of TVs throughout the space.
Selections seem to change constantly. When we came, the printed menu was outdated and we had to go mostly with what was on the wall. Interesting selection, tending toward local, but putting a lot of good national craft micros as well as a few international ones.
I had to go for the Belgian sour. I can’t resist. But we had a pint of some local stuff as well. Bartender was extremely generous with the samples after I asked a few questions and let her know I was looking to focus on the local stuff.
They do a local $3 pint night, which seems like a great deal and have other specials throughout the week.
Food is pizza served by Epic Pizza next door. There was actually a door that connected the two.
This place seems to get extremely busy. We came at a random time on a weekend and it was a lot more full than I thought it would be. It would be a great place to sit out on the patio and have a beer on a summer night, but I’m sure other people would have the same idea. Definitely worth a visit though, if just to check out this great neighborhood. | | csaso (71), Missouri | | July 12, 2011 Amazing selection of beer from everywhere! Need to serve some food though. | | tjern16 (11), Alabama | | July 8, 2011 These guys have a great model and idea of a bar. Alot of fun. Very good beer selection. | | Terminus (233), Las Cruces, New Mexico | | June 26, 2011 yet another place that has opened in STL since i moved away. an AWESOME bar-great staff, proper glassware and a really cool atmosphere. this is a MUST for those in or visiting STL. One of the best beer bars in the region. | | Finhead (10), OFallon, Illinois | | June 7, 2011 A great place to drink, though the patio could be nicer. 500+ beer to choose from with ever-rotating taps. There is a helpful staff and beer guide. | | DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | April 28, 2011 Interesting vibe to the place. Located in the Soulard neighborhood, which apparently has one of the largest Mardi Gras celebrations in the nation. The bar is comfortable with the whole exposed brick, comfy couches, outdoor patio sort of thing. The chairs at the bar were incredibly comfortable. They have over 40 taps and a few hundred bottles. the taps were all craft but nothing to adventurous or rare. the bottles are craft but again not to adventurous. Can’t say the service insanely friendly. Nice neighborhood place but I don’t think it’s as interesting or compelling as the Bridge. | | jandd1983 (87), Florissant, Missouri | | April 17, 2011 Our first visit to the Soulard location was awesome. Brian helped by allowing us to taste test several of their taps. We sampled several great brews that day and also purchased a few to go. We wish they served food, but understand their situation. A great place to sample many brews that you just can’t find anywhere around. We will definitely return and hope to find many new brews. | | ttutony (15), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | February 20, 2011 Great selection. Bartender let us try several beers before ordering. Would definitely return here next time I’m in St. Louis. | | lushawn (164), Boston, Massachusetts | | November 21, 2010 thursday night pubcrawl with phaleslu. live music- though the guitar player/singer sucked big time. nice tap selection. modern feel. brick walls. nice. | | JoeinEscazú (200), San Jose, Costa Rica | | September 6, 2010 Pretty straightforward: Lots and lots of beers on tap and in the coolers, with plenty of odd ones to keep you interested. Atmosphere a bit sterile but it’s new... has a Soulard touch but so many other places in the neighborhood would just destroy this one with character. But it’s about the beer. No food. Bartender was friendly enough but also new and not too hip to all the beers yet. |
