| jcnielsen (26), Kansas City, Missouri | | April 30, 2012 Pretty cool place. We went on a Saturday night and there was live music on the bar side. We sat on restaurant side and had samplers. There were probably 12 Schlafly beers on tap, including a few that I haven’t seen in bottles. A good place to take an out-of-towner for a night on the town, especially if they aren’t familiar with Schlafly beers. | alcaponejunior (5), Missouri does not count - explanation | | December 24, 2011 Great place, best place in St Louis and my favorite pub within about 400 miles of here. Every time they have something different and new, and it’s always delicious. On cask beers are rare in the US, but Schlafly Taproom always has them, and they’re great. The service is wonderful, they always take care of me big time. The beer is fantastic. Schlafly is one of the best breweries in the US. The food is great, you’ve gotta try the coconut curry mussels if you like seafood. Even the simple chicken salad sandwich is wonderful, and you must try the beer cheese soup! Grab a growler or a big bottle or a mixed sixer on your way out too. There’s no point in going to St Louis if you’re not going to visit the Taproom. | | SPDickerman (27), Texas | | December 22, 2011 They have a nice little restaurant at one end, with a bar, and a view of some brew tanks. At the other end they have the more traditional bar. They have almost all their beers on tap, for a really good price, and all their beers bottled for sale as well, and you can get the bottles to go. They also sell growlers. The food was exceptional, I was entirely surprised. The servers are knowledgeable and generally really nice. My only caveat was that the food was a tiny bit expensive, but well worth the price for sure. | | musinj6 (19), St. Louis, Missouri | | November 21, 2011 Good beer, good food, friendly staff and plenty of things on the calendar. | | jrallen34 (207), Chicago, Illinois | | October 21, 2011 big place at the edge of downtown, totally dead on Thursday of the World Series, older looking place inside, not much character at the bar, but they did have a small lounge area with leather furniture and steel table that was awesome... draft selection was pretty good, 6 of their regular beers then about 8 seasonal beers, tons of bottles but stuff you can get anywhere... service was great, knowledgeable and friendly... high recommend | | satan165 (101), River Grove, Illinois | | May 5, 2011 emailed in advance regarding the filling of other breweries growlers and got a response from stephen who said it was fine. visited on a monday afternoon and wasted most of an hour discussing beer with bartender paul. stephen came out and joined the lively discussion. two casks, both full. numerous taps, had the falafel, it was excellent. curry ketchup was bonkers. service is an easy 10, this qualifies as one of a few ’peak beer experiences’ ive had over the years. thanks guys. | | DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | April 28, 2011 Located in an old factory. I love brewpubs located in old factories. Great service from the bartender. I love places that give you a glass a water without having to ask for it. They have 12 different things on tap and 2 on cask. I think their strongest offerings are their Hop toddy, the rye bock, and the weiss beer. Great value for money as well. It’s shocking how cheap this stuff is considering its quality and freshness. the food was pretty good although I wasn’t really feeling the fries. | | jandd1983 (87), Florissant, Missouri | | February 26, 2011 Finally made the trek. Good atmosphere, very knowledgable staff, and very good selection of samplers. The food was very good, tried a suggested menu item, and the brews were very fresh. Will visit again when we need a Schalfly fix.
| | bleeng (102), Houston nowhere near Beersel, Texas | | January 27, 2011 [ Updated March 9, 2012 ] I’ve been here several times but finally getting around to reviewing this establishment. It’s split into 2 parts-the restaurant/main bar area and the sports bar area. I always sit in the main bar area. Usually a 10-14 beer selection, but primarily along the primary beer styles. No sours, Belgian’s, or double IPA’s in sight. Food is always good-a bit more than the usual pub grub with some unique German style dishes. Paul at the bar is a professional bartender-great service. A good place to stop when in town for decently made beers and good food. | FrankLe (7), New York does not count - explanation | | November 25, 2010 Got there at 5pm on a saturday nite. The place filled up quickly. They had many beers on tap. Had the sampler. All beers were true to style. The Kolsh and Pilner were solid and true to style, but not spectacular, which is fine. The APA and IPA are superb. Also had the porter and Coffee stout. The coffee stout was a stand out beer. Great. Food was good. Much better than typical pub fare. I had the Schnitzel. The fact that they even had schnitzel was cool. Great place, would go again. |
