| laymansbeerfan (16), Rosemount, Minnesota | | July 11, 2011 Went in for a tasting/brew tour the other day with a few friends. The tour consists of looking at the setup of the brewing area, listening to the background of the brewery, Q&A session with the owner/headbrewer Jeff, and then free tastings. The ones available for us were Black Helicopter Coffee Stout, NW Passage IPA, Belgian Style Pale Ale, and a Summer Blonde (can’t remember the name right now). Some were kegged, some out of growlers, but either way free is good! Interesting to listen to, different to see. Sounds like you can come buy growlers and get tastings whenever they’re open too. | | adnielsen (277), Fort Collins, Colorado | | April 8, 2011 Free tastings in an office-like atmosphere from growlers. The guy that served us told us that he basically bought the brewery over the phone about a year ago. The dude then went into a rant on his previous job as a collections agent. He alluded to having to beat the shit out of people that hadn’t paid on their dishwashers/fridges/etc which was strange to say the least. At least the beer was free! | | kbutler1 (65), Minnesota | | August 11, 2010 So I popped in here the other day to grab a growler and was happy to find they also have a "tasting room". The tasting room pretty much reminds me of a basement/garage with an assortment of tables and cahirs set up. I grabbed a sample of Extra Medium and sipped on it for a minute or 2. Ended up grabbing 2 growlers while I was there. The 1 staff member was really nice but the tasting room is kind of weird, but I liked it! The sample was free so that was a great value, not sure what the cost is to sit down and drink some beers. It was hot in there too, I don’t think they really have AC. Overall, this jsut plain old reminds me of a small brewery that is cool enough to let you walk in and try some beers and for that reason I really liked it. | | OSLO (119), Ames, Iowa | | May 3, 2008 I went on the brewery tour here a couple of weeks ago. Overall the building is fairly small and there isn’t much to it. The tour had great turnout, but was pretty short, with Jeff Williamson (head brewer/co-owner) talking about the company, how the beers were made and how he got started. He then opened it up to the crowd and answered questions. Samples were then poured for everyone, with 4 choices of their regulars being offered. Worth doing once, and could be really useful for someone interested in starting a brewpub/brewery of their own, but not the best tour I have been on. |
